Dual-wielding Slings?

The Sage has ruled that Ambidex can be used with ranged weapons, but TWF cannot.

The only mention in the PHB is in the Crossbow section, but the FAQ goes over it.

Is it possible to dual-wield slings? A player in our campaign is planning to do it, and taking rapid-fire, ambi, 2-weapon, to get off 4 shots at first level at a -4 to his BaB. I would've guessed it couldn't be done, but can't find anything that says it can't.

Putting aside the question of whether or not TWF applies, how could a dual wielding 1st-level character get four shots per round with Rapid Shot? I read "one extra attack per round with a ranged weapon" as a single extra attack, not an extra attack with each ranged weapon.

Two handed???

I used to make and use slings as a kid. It is only two handed to get the stone in it and then one handed when you twirl and fire. But for game purposes it is two because you can only control one sling before firing. They are sinple to make, try it yourself.

The whip is a ranged weapon (projectile to be precise).

Ambidexterity works just fine with dual-wielding ranged weapons, as far as offsetting penalities go.

TWF does not work with ranged weapons. It very clearly states this in the PHB. It doesn't matter where it was placed within the book. Yes, it was poor editing, but it without question denies use of TWF w/ranged weapons. House rule it if you like, or create a Ranged version of the feat. There is another weapon in the Sword and Fist that states (possibly verbatim) the same thing that is in the heavy xbow description...sorry, I can't recall which, but it's in there.

Finally, no you cannot dual wield slings since they are two-handed. However, you CAN dual wield bolas.:D

John Woo presents: David vs. Goliath.

I can see it now: Jet Li is fighting Michael Clark Duncan (that guy from the Green Mile). With a loaded sling in each hand, he fires two bullets that take out Goliath's eyes. Goliath charges, enraged, and Jet Li uses a foot to flip two stones in the air, catches them both in his slings, and fires again.

I'd never allow that in a non-epic game, but man, John Woo rocks.

You reload each sling simotaneously
THe right hand reloads the left and the left reloads the right, my brother has been wanting to do this for his tempest sometime:D

Screw the TWF rule, it doesn't make sense, if it's only for melee weapons, then you can't throw two javelins which makes absolutely no sense.

make status quo your bitch
I completely agree:p

The Quintessential Fighter has the Twin Shot feat, which allows you to fire two crossbows of at least one size-category smaller than you, and you only suffer a -2 penalty to the attacks, just like wielding a light weapon in your off-hand with Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting.

It's one of the few Quint feats that I would allow into a standard game. :)
