You do not need to move more than five feet. You have to move at least five feet. Suppose you move 5 feet ?

Actually, you have to jump. You can't jump with a 5-foot step, but you can jump with a move action. So, you get one attack.

I think I'm going to go against the consensus here.

I'd say the character makes the Jump skill check. If the result is equal or greater than the distance between the duelist and the intended target, then he can move that distance as a free action and receive the +2 bonus to attack and damage.

If the result is less than the distance between duelist and target (but more than 5 feet), then he must expend a move action* to close in on the target.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

* Well, it's a choice between a move or a standard action, according to the definition of extraordinary ability.

Well, I might be wrong too, but the distance you jump counts against your movement that round. So, either Jump is part of your move, or it's one of those "not an action" skills. I wanna say it's part of your move. Not 100% on that though.

Jumping is part of movement. It's not part of a move _action_. A 5-foot step is movement, so you can jump as part of it.

So now comes the question:

Is vertical distance counted towards the "distance" for maximum move and 5FS? If I only move over 5 feet on the battle map, but I jumped 10 feet into the air to get there, did I take a 5-foot step? Did I only use up 5 feet of my 30 total feet of movement?

BTW, I tend to agree that jumping (and tumbling for that matter) do not actually use up any kind of action. They are just part of the movement you make.
