Dumb Question: Multi-Hit Attack Damage

AndrewRogue

First Post
Getting back into 4th after a while and I had a silly question. Do all damage bonuses apply on every hit of a multi-hit attack? For example, a Ranger uses Confounding Arrows. They have a +6 Dexterity Mod, Sly Hunter as a feat, a +4 Hand Crossbow and used Perfect Aim.

Does the damage look like this? 1d6 + 16, 1d6 + 16, 1d6 + 16? Or do certain damage bonuses only apply to singular hits?

Yes, except for Hunter's Quarry, which you didn't mention, so I would guess you know this.
In fact, when dealing damage with a power that hits multiple targets, you roll just 1 damage roll and it applies to all of the things you hit. Anything you crit, of course, is maxxed and you roll the bonus crit dice(i.e., from a magic weapon) per target critted.

*I suppose I should add that I don't know what Perfect Aim does, but the math says it somehow gives +3 to damage. Also, Sly Hunter is situational, so it of course wouldn't apply to targets that don't qualify.

That only applies to Close and Area attacks. Melee and Ranged attacks you roll seperate damage for each target hit. (see pages 270 - 271 of the PHB)

alot of it, as well as the hunters quarry.

Remember that one of the ranger's main attacks, twin strike, does NOT add his dexterity/strength bonus to the damage (tho feat, weapon enhancements, etc are included).
