Everyone's favorite topic. :)

Back when 134 and 135 came out with no FR and Eberron content, there was a hint of promise that the year would still yield something "close" to the goal stated by Mr. Jacobs: 1/3 of content would include some flavor from WotC settings material. Now that we know all of the adventures for 2006, here is a breakdown:

130
Core: 1
FR: 1
OA: 1

131
Core: 2
Greyhawk: 1

132
Core: 3

133
Core: 2
Eberron: 1

134
Core: 3

135
Core: 3

136
Core: 2
Eberron: 1

137
Core: 2
FR: 1

138
Core: 3

139
Core: 2
FR: 1

140
Core: 3

141
Core: 3

Total
Core: 29 (81%)
FR: 3 (8%)
Eberron: 2 (5%)
Greyhawk: 1 (3%)
OA: 1 (3%)

First of all, I'd love to remind people in general: The best way to reply to a topic you hate, is to ignore it. :)

(Not a reminder to Frank, but to anyone thinking about taking a thread down in flames)

What this means to me is not enough people writing good adventures for those settings. If you want more of a certain content then I'd be encourage people to write adventures for it.

#136 should read:

Core: 1
Greyhawk: 1
Eberron: 1

and #138 should read:

Core: 4

I'm inclined to think that the magazine could maybe do with a slightly higher percentage of setting-specific adventures, but only slightly. Further, Dungeon can only publish the adventures they have available, so...

Anyway, that's as much as I'm inclined to say on this subject; I have no desire to go around that argument again. :)

Secondly, I can think of at least a couple of reasons they didn't make their "33%" goal:

1. Authors no contributing enough themed material
2. Authors contributing said material couldn't make their deadlines at the last minute
3. Editorial staff change this year
4. Plans just sometimes freakin' CHANGE.

It's something I personally don't see any reason to be worked up over it.

As a DM who doesn't work in Eberron, Greyhawk, or FR, I don't see much problem with lots of Core material - in general, the more core the material is, the less work I hav eto do to adapt it to my own game.

I don't think that a whole lot of weight should be given to the "promise" - no plan survives contact with reality.

Welcome back, Takasi. It sounded like your Savage Tide campaign kicked off with a bang - I'm glad to see you are enjoying Paizo's decisions as to what to include in their magazines!

The way most of them are written, pretty much all of them should say "Greyhawk: 3". ;)

Well I really didn't count challenge of champions.
