Dungeons & Dragons 3: The Temple of Elemental Evil!?!

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
Okay, so here are the tidbits (modified) from my other thread that confirm and talk about what we can look forward to for the next Dungeons & Dragons movie. Sure, Wrath of the Dragon God hasn't premiere yet, but it's close enough, IMO.

Zinc Entertainment, a division of Joel Silver's Silver Pictures, announced (last year, I believe) it is developing "Dungeons & Dragons 3." What about number 2 you ask? Warner Bros. will release "Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God," on home video (DVD) later this year (November). "Dungeons & Dragons 2" stars Bruce Payne, reprising his role from the first picture. Mark Dymond, Clemency Burton-Hill, and Ellie Chidzley, Steven Elder, Lucy Gaskell, Roy Marsden, and Tim stern also star; WotDG was directed by Gerry Lively. The movie will premiere on SciFi Channel in a matter of days (October 8th).

In DungeonsAndDragons-the-Movie@yahoogroups.com, "highway_to_hel"
Screenwriter Sebastian Gutierrez has been hired to write the screenplay for DnD 3, with Silver Pictures 'looking into' the prospect of adapting fan favourite scenario and computer game 'The Temple Of Elemental Evil'.

That's all for now. More news when i can.

Interesting...

Here are Sebastian Gutierrez's writing credits...

Wow, talk about a old news bit return.

Okay, not to burst the bubble. I believe, that a lady named Cindy, was present at the preview showing of D&D #2 movie, at Gen Con.

That question was asked. And I believe she said, it is in 'talking' stages. Nothing was a go as of yet.

Well, it will come down to DVD sales here in the States. But as usual, they will recoup their money overseas.

Which reminds me, must build some bridges with certain beings in the industry.

ToEE could work well, especially since there won't be too much money for great actors (you'd need those for more story-focused favorites). It'd still be an ambitious project, though.

Not too sure who Cindy is - but the rights holder is clearly just using the sequel clause in the original license. It's the only reason we have a Damodar in the second film - and why he isn't killed in it too. It justifies a derivative sequel in a third movie.

Lame, I know - but that's the way the motion picture biz treats these things.

There isn't any "talks" to be held regarding it. The "talks" are:

Sequel Rights Holder: "Ok. We are in the black. Do we have money for a third?"
Financer: "Yeah - we got 4.5 million. We'll try to improve the take on distribution and DVD sales this time."
Sequel Rights Holder: "Ok. Let's do it."

WotC would be the last to know...

You know, even if I'm not expecting a great movie, I have been trying to avoid spoilers. How about not revealing details of what happens, okay?

And BTW, while I have no idea who officially "holds" the rights to the movies anymore, the original production crew--including Courtney Solomon--has nothing to do with this second movie.

I know, just stirring up trouble, as usual. :p

Also, how much did SciFi pay for the exclusive TV rights in the States?

Well, what else would run it?

(Must...fight....urge...to...make...obvious.....joke...)

Really though, I think much of the market for DVD sales for something like this is rental stores. I mean, yeah, in this case there is a potential buyer market. But most Direct to DVD are rental fodder.
