D&D 5E (2014) Dungeonscape Lives!

Given how awful this update was, I doubt I will read any more updates until someone here says they have something to look at. That was not helpful at all to those of us that want to know if there are D&D tools coming.

That's an awful lot to take on faith. I'm willing to hang in there for now, but… definitely disappointing.

I mean, I'm willing to play amateur cryptographer, but if the answer at the end is "so we're reworking the whole thing for Savage Worlds", I'd really rather know that now so I can disengage.

Are you engaged in some way other than occasionally looking at a website for some news? Is anyone asking you to take any actions or invest your time, effort, or money?

What you're saying makes sense for someone in, say, a Kickstarter, who has put money on the line, and heard some news that the project might fail. But this teaser ( it isn't really news - it plays the same role as a movie teaser trailer) demands little or nothing from you. So, really, you don't have to "hang in there". There's no effort being asked at this point. Just a statement to mollify the curious.

Seaweed is the coast. As in, Wizards of the Coast. They were hard at work on their tools only to have them taken away by people from that Coast.

They, the Trapdoor team, are the Adventurers. They are going forth to get something done before the holidays. Thanksgiving.

They were making tools for the Village. Us, the consumers.

They will look for crowd funding.

The character builder was only a small aspect of DungeonScape... Trust me. Even without the character builder, Morningstar is an immensely powerful tool.

But the question is this: Is it a general d20 software tool now, or are they aligning with 5E's competition?

I actually really liked this update, as far as it goes, but would have liked a little bit of actual information after it. Anyone with a business degree could have predicted that they would try to find another IP to back their code.

No. They *were* at work on something for the holidays - but that's not Thanksgiving, that's the X-mas season.

While they may bust expectations, don't expect their adventure to have something ready for the holidays. Quests take time.

Yeah, I assumed "holidays" meant "Christmas". I always forget you guys have Thanksgiving too until somebody mentions it! Is that this month?

But yeah. This was just a "hey, we're alive!" check-in, just so we don't forget they ever existed. Let 'em work out whatever deals they need to work out before announcing them. And don't fret. If reading a little "hey, we're alive!" post bothers you with its lack of detail, then you're probably right to back off for a while.

I was referring to them announcing that they are looking for crowd funding around Thanksgiving, not that they'd have software complete by that time.

4th Thursday in November every year. :) You don't have any American expats who have invited you over for Thanksgiving dinner? If I ever live in England again, I will send you an invite.
