Forgoing any stealth (although you don't go out of your way to make any extra noise) the heroes head for the crop of trees while Edgar and the dogs head back towards the ranch.

Peering into the woods the heroes see nothing out of the ordinary when Shara spots what looks like a empty hunter's stand placed about ten feet off the ground and a rope latter hanging from it.

Approaching the first cave entrance the terrible sink of a open sewage and uncooked half rotten meat spills out and threatens to overwhelm the heroes. The overcast sky provides poor illumination into the cave and no one can see more then a dozen feet inside...

Holding her breath to keep from retching, Shara reaches her empty hand around to the front of her shield and touches it. She utters a quiet incantation and bright light spills forth.

She stands still for a moment, knowing the light will not fall upon anything she wants to see. Reluctantly, she aims it in the direction of the cave.

OOC: Bright light for 20 ft, dim for another 20 after that

Hunter Brightwood

Hunter turned his nose up at the smell of sewage and rotten meat coming out from the cave. “Well, I guess we will be washing up, when we get back to the homestead,” Hunter said quietly.

“My eyes aren’t the greatest in the dark, should I light a torch, or would you rather us rely on the light Shara can provide us?” Hunter asks in a low voice.

OOC: I do want to check out that hunter's stand before we go in the caves. Was just going to wait till the DM told us what the light shows from the cave entrance first.

Before throwing the light into the cave Shara moved back to check on the hunter's stand in the small crop of trees (the stand itself is about 30ft from the cave entrance and the trees end about 15ft from the cave entrance). She notes footprints coming and going from the stand but can't really tell how long ago they might have appeared. There are also some crack bones and other trash on the ground at the base of the tree...

GM: If you want to climb up the rope to see the stand itself requires no roll unless you want to do it in a hurry.

At the stand, Shara finds additional trash and random bones littered about. The stand itself offers a perfect view through the trees to the hill side on the opposite end of the small valley. She is confident that if there was someone here they easily would have spotted the heroes when they were looking down at the caves...
