D&D 5E Dwimmermount [IC]

The matron leaves to fetch a pair of smaller hunter dogs. She hands the leash over to Magen and says "They be good dogs this pair, but can get excited and bark a bit when worked up..." The pair sniff the knights boots, along with the rest of the group and bark and yip in excitement, licking everyone's hands as they do so.

Gathering up their gear the heroes head out of the homestead to towards where Hunter had seen the lone wolf last eve. At first they sniff around and don't seem to find anything of interested when one of the dogs starts barking excitedly. They both search about the area and then lead the heroes northwesterly, more or less in the direction where Hunter had seen the wolf run off too...

The fog and rain continue throughout the morning as the party follow the dogs, down into the foothills and then almost directly west. It is just after midday that the group comes over yet another hill and find themselves looking down into a small valley that cause the dogs to pull at their leashes and bark with excitement. On the other side of this small valley they see three large cave like entrances leading into the hillsides. The fog is still fairly thick on the valley floor and there is a small crop of trees near the northern most cave entrance. There is no movement within the valley or by any of the caves and the lands around here seem to have gone deadly quiet.

GM: Survival roll: 1D20+3 = [10]+3 = 13. They normally have Advantage on this roll, but giving them Disadvantage because of the rain.

Then secret roll (for reals this time :)) Secret roll: 2D20.HIGH(1)+6 = [8, 17]+6 = 23

OOC: I'd planned to leave Edgar at the homestead, bit since we have the dogs, I'll keep him with as a dog handler.

Hunter Brightwood

Hunter walked along with the group he was still a little tired from the night before, but all things considered it could have gone much worse. The three caves on the other side of the hill were concerning however.

Hunter squinted his eyes against the rain, “Well at least the caves will be dryer than it is out here.”

Laughing softly for a moment, Hunter then grinned and carried a more serious tone. “We have some open ground to cover no matter which way we go, but those trees near the northern cave will at least give us some cover.”

"That fog will help us as well. My main concern is that going into one of the caves leaves us open to an attack from the rear from another cave. I would definitely clear those woods first, there could be something lurking in them."

The group circles around the hill to approach the caves from small crop the woods...

GM: Group Stealth check or you could send someone forward, or you can just not worry about Stealth up to you all.

Also are Edgar and the dogs coming with you are stay back somewhere?

OOC: I believe we agreed no more scouting, given wolves' crazy perception.

Stealth: IMO, not worth even rolling. With a group this size and at least a few of us at disadv in our armor, we aren't beating said crazy perception. Let's just go.

Edit: adding a stealth roll in case you guys want to try:

Stealth: 2D20.LOW(1)+1 = [3, 8]+1 = 4
