Eberron - Characer afflictions from the Mourning

Sidekick

First Post
Hello there everyone I'm looking for some ideas as to what I can do to my groups PCs to reflect the awesome power of the Mourning.

Here's the deal I don't want to actually negatively impact them, mainly just cosmetic things that have both a level of 'coolness; and 'spookiness' to them

So here's the deal I've got a Dwarven fighter/barbarian a female human scout3 and a male monk/cleric (Sov Host).

I'm thinking of making the dwarf a full 6 inches taller and then allowing him to move fast (30ft) in medium armour.

The scout I'm thinking of turning her left eye completely milky/misty - everyone who examines her says she shoudl be blind in that eye. But then why does she have perfect vision out of it - even when wearing an eye patch?

And then there's the human monk/cleric. I'm just not too sure what to do about him. What kind of small, cool cosmetic change could I give him?

Ideas & opinions are kindly requested. Cheers gang

An undulating circle of tentacles sprouting from his chest, ranging from a stubs to about 2 inches. They don't do tricks, they can't wear rings.

Hmm I wasn't going to comment on that one.

But seriously I'm looking for something a little more 'mourning'/spooky rather than Daelkyr influenced...

I was thinking of having something dragonmark'esque appear on his body, but one that only he can see.

IIt'd be purely cosmetic and shoudl be rather aberrant looking just to creep him out (he's a black sheep of Deneith blood).

Hmmm...

Make them seem to grow five years (or racial equivalent) older every day, and five years younger every night... so effectively they would appear their real age at sunrise every morning, and five years older at sunset.

Maybe a player occaisonally thinks he sees a person's face twist into a ghoulish mask that appears to be soundlessly screaming, only to find that the person looks normal when he looks again. Think The Exorcism of Emily Rose, if you've seen that.

Whenever he's reflected in a mirror, there's one second of lag time. If he raises one hand, the reflection waits one second before copying the action. If he stands with his back to the mirror and turns around quickly, he gets to see the reflection of the back of his head, before the reflection turns to face him.

Most of the time this is just spooky and has no game effect, but if he ever encounters a Mirror of Opposition, he automatically wins initiative against his double.

Awww, don't be such a spoilsport. We both know Luna is going to seriously screw up the Gatekeepers no matter what you do. :p

But seriously. How about switching his audio sensory input? Whenever he hears something from the right, it sounds to him like it's comming from the left. I know that whenever I walk along those sound dampening material walls the feeling is creepy.

Or, perhaps he is able to survive having his head hacked off. Everything else is quite lethal... but having the head detached doesn't seem to do anything special. Of course, the fact it keeps on falling off ala' Nearly Headless Nick might make people suspicious. :]

Live shadows. Which are only living in the sense that they seem to feel whatever terrain their owner walks across. They are torn by rocky terrain, begin to drown if standing near a pool or large puddle, etc. And the owner can hear the sounds of their screaming at the edge of his hearing.

What's worse is that the shadow naturally wants to kill the person inflicting such suffering on it. And the only time it can reach him is when he lies down. So, the PCs either have to constantly stay upright, even when sleeping, or risk being strangled in their sleep by their own shadows.
