Eberron Homebrew Deities

Zephrin the Lost

First Post
I'm putting my first 4e campaign together, using Eberron as a starting point but heavily modifying many aspects. Most of the action will take place on the Thunder Sea with a modified Saltmarsh (from DMG2) as a homebase.

I want to keep the deities simple, and I'm also borrowing from something I saw on a Wizard's column a while back- that "each of the gods is a great bard whose personal pleasure and cosmic power flows from ritual bragging in front of the other gods about the exceptional and glorious accomplishments of their worshipers. "

Commoners tend to pay homage to all deities depending on what trials they are facing, but I hope at least a few of the PC's would choose one god to follow and thereby path to walk.

The Abandon- accomplishment through passion / emotion. Live in the moment, and trust that insight and swift action result in the perfection of the spirit. Big with rogues, warlocks

The Exemplar- accomplishment through discipline. Those who seek excellence through physical or mental disciplines follow this deity. Big with wizards, warlords

The Hero- accomplishment through courage. Dedicated to the subjugation of fear, both philosophical and of physical harm. Big with all classes

The Venture – accomplishment through trade / business. ‘A rising tide lifts all boats’ – honest success in trade and commerce betters the mortal spirit and condition. Big with those who trade for a living (including fortune-hunters for hire).

The Benevolence- accomplishment through compassion /forgiveness. Seeks understanding of all paths. Their way is marked by sacrifice and patience. Big with clerics and paladins.

The Mockery- accomplishment through evil. “Take all you can- give nothing back.”

I'm wondering how such a pantheon sounds to others, so feedback is welcome!

So instead of Deities you will have aspects of certain ideals? Its a very cool idea, and similar to the Kingdoms of Kalamar pantheon. In KoK they have about 50 gods, but none of them have names. Instead they are named for what they represents, and cultures call them whatever they want.

Examples include The Knight, The Harvester of Souls, The Mother, yadda yadda. Maybe check it out. But I like your ideas so far.

you could use either some of your own dieties, which could work well, or you could modify yours and the KoK gods to create a new pantheon of dieties, just a thought.
