To be clear, the only thing we're doing differently from the
Google Doc that has been publicly available since 2019 is putting it into a freely downloadable PDF. This was already possible via the Google Doc itself via the File menu. We're just updating the content to leverage the newer
Savage Worlds Fantasy Companion and laying it out into a pretty PDF.
The Savage Worlds Licensed Product logo on the cover is specifically so that we can accept monetary compensation via donations, advertising, or whatever means Wizards of the Coast's Fan Content Policy (FCP) allows. We are an approved Savage Worlds Licensee, and thus we have permission to use that logo. The Savage Worlds Fan License on the current Google Doc does not allow for any monetary compensation, hence why we're republishing it as a new PDF.
The PDF will first and foremost be free as required by the FCP. No one will be required to register an account or pay money to access it. The means of accepting donations are TBD at the moment, but we are considering
one of several options to be a PWYW model which still allows for $0 as a purchase price option. Even without this PWYW option, it will be freely downloadable.
As mentioned in the linked tweet above, we contacted WotC back in November of 2018 with confirmation of compliance in February of 2019. If Wizards of the Coast contacts us with any necessary changes or clarifications, we are very much ready to comply. We have always respected WotC's intellectual property rights and will continue to do so.
We're happy to answer any additional questions that you might have.
