Eberron = Tekumel?

And hey, I'm in Boulder, so that makes at least four of us! We should run a game sometime!

Hey, we could do that. I had no idea you were in Colorado. Always nice to meet more gamers!

Actually, I'll be talking about Eberron at It's Your Move at the Westminster Mall this Saturday, and running an Eberron game in the afternoon (I'm not sure how they'll figure out who gets to play, if more than 6 people show up... perhaps they are banking on that not being the case). So if anyone wants to drop by and compare notes on Tekumel, throw rotten fruit, or what have you, come on by!

Damn... I probably can't make it. And I have all this lovely rotten fruit! Well, I'll save it for you. It'll be even better by the time I can throw it at you. :)

Has anyone picked up the Tekumel setting from Guardians of Order? I've been hearing good things about it. ;)

No, but I suspect, if nothing else, this is going to increase both your sales and their sales, as people buy them to compare them.

Hmm... You sure you're not in on this? This seems like an awfully good marketing trick... :]

I hope that might explain it a bit better. I was referring to its "well-thought-out, intricate" nature. In KoK, everything is pretty well-reasoned, from its geology and geography, to its cultures.
Understood.

I think anyone would be hard-pressed to find an RPG setting (much less a literary one) as detailed as Tekumel. A setting like FR might have more breadth, but Tekumel has just a ridiculous amount of depth. It's like Middle-Earth on steroids.

If so, sign me up for this Eberoon thing.

I think it's spelled Ebrigaroon. That's the pseudo-Scottish setting based on the city than only appears one day out of every hundred years, right? I love that setting - sign me up!

But only if Fiona turns out to be a warforged.

Hmmm, suddenly I'm feeling very used right now.

I sincerely hope my "source" wasn't planting something just to drum up sales. I will have to use more discretion next time, though. Thanks for the moment of clarity, CZ. I honestly hadn't thought of that till now.

I'm always happy to meet more gamers. I have occasional open gaming nights up in Boulder for just that purpose (well, that and all the rotting fruit). So hey, Denver-area gamers! If you're interested in dropping by sometime and playing games or talking about Tek.. er, Eberron... send me email at Keith@bossythecow.com and I'll put you on the list.

You've figured it out! First I rigged the setting search, and now I've got the entire internet shilling for me without even knowing it! You are all puppets on my strings!

Seriously, though, I see an Illuminati expansion in this: "I'll use Tekumel to make an attack to neutralize Eberron, using transferrable power from EN World and RPG.Net..."

Cool. I'd love to see you and play in your Tekumel game sometime!

Well, at least you admit it after you did it. Poor Stannis, being used like this in your evil bid for power! Bad cow!

Tekumel is simply one of the greatest RPG creations in the history of the hobby. Dissing Tekumel is like dissing Glorantha...

Oh, now there's an idea, Eberron+Tekumel+Glorantha. How could you not love a campaign where the player characters are a robot, a mushroom, and a duck! :D

Well, since the group of people who know about either setting (much less both) is VASTLY smaller than group who don't know anything about either, it was rather easy to believe, actually.

Also much smaller than the number of people eager to engage in baseless speculation.

There used to be a great forum on RPGnet for this, the Rumor Mill, but they closed it down when the volume of lies and basless assertions dropped below the level necessary to generate interest.

If it was true...

If there was anything to the comparison, I think we would have heard something before now. They unveiled Eberron at Gencon 2003, and I don't recall hearing anyone drawing parallels at the convention. Do you remember any Henry? :\
