Eberron = Tekumel?

Well, they both have dimples -- and kind of a cute gleam in their eye when they smile. And auburn hair. But other than that, no.

Very true. I'm amazed anyone would have bought what was in the original post, though I am quite suprised to see how uninformed so many people are about Tekumel. Tekumel is simply one of the greatest RPG creations in the history of the hobby. Dissing Tekumel is like dissing Glorantha, i.e., equivalent to putting on a baseball cap that says "I have no idea what I'm talking about." :)

To be fair, the art released for the Eberron preview does to a certian extent. One of the first things I thought when I saw the art was, "Hey, this is sort of like Tekumel. Cool!!!"

The substance, however, doesn't really resemble Tekumel at all.

Ebberon, yes. But what about Eberron?

Me, I still think the real Tekumel clone is Eberoon.

When I saw the preview booklet, I thought, "Hey, this is sort of like Talislanta." That was cool, too. Talislanta had some flying ships and stuff like that, but that's about all the similarities there. Of course, I'm just now really getting into the "gazetteer" info in the ECS.

No, Eberoon is a clone of that old classic, Teckyoumell. You can see it clear to the name of its creator: J.A.R. Tolkeen.

I can see that similarity as well, but only becuase Talislanta also looks like Tekumel. :) Tekumel is the mother of all "weird" FRPG settings.*

---Buzz, looking forward to the Tri-Stat Tekumel game he signed up for at GenCon.

*Which is why I was puzzled when someone compared it to Kingdoms of Kalamar, which is pretty "un-weird" as settings go.

Does that means I can finally trade in these dang dice for that Plinko board that I have in my basement? If so, sign me up for this Eberoon thing. :lol:
