Eberron = Tekumel?

I have played the 1975 edition of EPT and have the Gamescience EPT rules from the late '80s/early 90's. I've written RuneQuest versions of the rules and even a special rules-lite game system to allow concentration on the role playing. I've even got issue 4 of "The Dragon" which was an EPT special.

Know what? I can't see any points of similarity between Eberron and EPT, apart from the fact that they both have a well developed backstory and cohesive feel to the whole thing. The difference in races, in classes, in politics, in threats, in societies is complete.

The poster of the original comment on RPG.NET didn't know what he was talking about as far as I can see

Ozmar: Go to Amazon. It's available there for 35% off, you can get free shipping, and it's available NOW.

hellbender: I agree about the snippets in Dragon not really selling me on the campaign setting. I think they botched the marketing a bit, and lead with their weakest stuff, which was a mistake. Personally, all that the first article did for me was tick me off ("What do you mean this got chosen instead of my settings?! Blasphemy!"). I didn't really start getting interested until I read about the Artificer and the Warforged. Then, I went to this link and read a bunch of quotes from Mr. Baker, gleaned from various message boards, about Eberron. Let me tell you, that got me far more excited about the setting than any of the Dragon articles did. In fact, I just ordered it today.

There are two mass-market novels for Tekumel: Man of Gold and Flamesong. There are at least three other novels from small press houses; Zottola Publishing lists three published recently: The Prince of Skulls, Lords of Tsámra, and A Death of Kings. They also publish the Mitlanyál, which is currently two series of one volume each (for now) about the Gods of Change and Stability. Other thick volumes of Tekumel lore exist but most are out of print now.

Hey Stannis--

Now that it's been outed as a hoax, why don't you clear your name and identify the source?

Otherwise, right now, you get to have credit for spreading this trollish nonsense throughout the internet.

It'd be a shame if WotC decided you deserved to be served for libel and had a process server drop by your home.

I was initially intrigued by the idea of "Indiana Jones meets LotR meets the Maltese Falcon," but I think the magewright article in Dragon is what sealed the deal for me. I love the idea that magic is widespread --- but not the good kill-and-take-their-stuff kind of magic.

Zelgadas, (cool name, BTW) I did order it from Amzn two days ago, but they haven't bothered to ship it yet! They say they're going to ship it on the 21st and it might arrive on 24-27. So I'm unhappy and looking for a more immediate vehicle for gratification. I might try to order it from Walmart.com just to see if they will ship it faster, since its virtually the same price (actually, I think WM might be 23 cents cheaper. :) )

I was wondering what the Death Goddess of Khazan was doing in Candlekeep.

Although I gotta say Umslopagaas of the Shiny Teeth would probably fit right in!

Hmmmm. A new day and still no denial of my Eberron-Aliens-Elvis-Clone post on page one of this thread.

Well, "Hellcow" (if indeed that is your real alias) I think we all know what this means! You book-writing, elvis-abducting, backwards-record-playing fiend!

This has been on rpg.net and nothingland recently, does anyone know about this? I'm not familiar enough with Tekumel to say myself.

There is nothing to this at all. Ebberon does not even vaguely resemble Tekumel.
