D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood is doing a Let's Play of Baldur's Gate 3 [Spoilers obviously]

Part 4 is out! The bulk of the video takes place in the Blighted Village.

Some highlights:

1. Ivan (the guy playing for Ed) and Ed believe that if Halsin's still alive, he'd be hiding in the wilderness as a wildshaped animal, so they get really into talking to all the animals they can.

2. During a brief chat about manga, Ed says that One Piece drives him nuts as a librarian, because there's so many issues of that series.

3. In answering questions from chat, Elminster's favorite food and drink are butter pecan ice cream and pina colada.

4. They recruit Lump the Enlightened and his ogre brothers, and believe that Lump's commentary on how delicious Tav looks is a double entendre.

5. They got Shovel as a companion thanks to chat helping. They used her to help scout out the phase spider cave.

6. Ivan continues skipping convo options with companions, opting for the "Leave" option a lot. A recurring downside of the stream.

7. Ed vetoed the selling of the Poo Scraper when they were buying supplies at the Druid Grove.

8. They had Gale read the Necromancy of Thay.

Time for Part 5!

Highlights:

  1. Their latest accomplishment at the end of the video was rescuing Halsin.
  2. They haven’t found Karlach yet.
  3. Ed didn’t want to interrupt the ogre and bugbear’s barnyard fun, but chat convinced him to open the door. Ever the ethical pervert, he opted to have the party run away rather than stick around and kill the couple for what is admittingly his fault.
  4. They respecced Shadowheart out of the Trickery Domain at chat’s request. Ed desired the Life domain to have a dedicated healer.
  5. Ed wasn’t impressed with the dialogue choices during the first meeting with Raphael, as there were things he wanted to say that were not options.
  6. Ed has a planned upcoming lore video on Moonrise Towers.
  7. The chat spoiled the fact that it was the Absolute speaking mentally to the protagonist during the vision of her three Chosen. Apparently a minor war broke out in chat over people getting angry at the people posting the spoilers. Ed and Ivan appeared to take the spoiler in stride and didn’t seem all that bothered.
  8. Ivan has a running gag of hating Gale, taking opportunities to make him look ridiculous, such as having him wear only his underwear or centering the Cloud of Daggers spell on himself.
  9. Ivan is distinctly uninterested in pursuing roleplaying convos with any of the party members unless prompted via a cutscene. When new dialogue happens when talking to them from choosing to interact with them via the speech balloon icon, he acts like it’s a chore and just clicks the “Leave” option.”
  10. They threw a rotten tomato at Volo while he was being forced to perform for the goblins. Interestingly, this wasn’t viewed as a hostile action, so there were no initiative-related consequences.
  11. Ed went whole hog in eating the tadpole.
  12. Streaming the game is the highlight of Ed and Ivan's week, but they can only devote so much time as they both have very busy schedules.

I want to throw a rotten tomato at Ivan every time he ignores content.

After 2 weeks, Part 6 is here.

Highlights

The bulk of the stream involved clearing out the goblin fort and visiting the party with the tieflings afterwards.

1. They knocked out Minthara due to advice from chat.
2. Still haven't found Karlach, both Ivan and Ed were quite eager to find here, even considering breaking off from the goblin quest. They did get advice from chat near the end of the stream on where to find her.
3. Speaking of chat, I did notice one person giving them the wrong advice. To not feed Gale magic items, as his "desire for them is never-ending." Don't know if that person's misinformed or malicious, but it does show to me how the chatters can be a double-edged sword.
4. One person suggested that Ivan shouldn't skip unique convo dialogues when they talk to party members given he's missed content this way. He's aware, but chooses to still skip because "the game would take forever if we listened to every convo." So for those hoping for a role-play/companion-focused stream, this isn't for you.
5. They chose to bring Halsin along to kill the rest of the Absolute goblin cultists.
6. During the tiefling party, they accidentally romanced Gale, but chose to romance Shadowheart by saying they'd prefer to keep her company instead.
7. Ivan disabled the "show genitalia" option, so there's no risk of their stream getting taken down by YouTube.
