D&D 5E (2014) Ed Greenwood is doing a Let's Play of Baldur's Gate 3 [Spoilers obviously]

Libertad

Legend

He finished streaming earlier today. Lasted about 3 hours. Just reached 2nd level and cleared the nautiloid. His character is a female githyanki wizard, which is quite the novel choice. At the very least she'll be able to turtle up in medium armor!

As it's his first time playing, the progress was quite slow and subject to figuring out how things work, but he was very interactive with chat and eager to answer questions about Realmslore. I found it quite fun.

Also, technically, a friend was playing for him, as Ed's PC is a potato, but he was still giving directions on things like conversation options, character choices, etc from what I've seen.

I'll be interested in continuing to watch this series, particularly seeing his takes on the video game's portrayal of his world.

So the most canon Tav you will get is a Female Gith Wizard. Of course, as Durge due to Larian saying that's the canon Tav.

So combo Ed's character with Durge and bang most canon you will get for BG3.

Part 2 is up now. In this one they explore the Overgrown Ruins/Dank Crypt dungeon. They recruited Astarion and Gale, and combined with Shadowheart they have a full party now.

Some brief observations:

1. Ed is very eager to find Laezel and likes Shadowheart quite a bit. He doesn't seem as fond of Astarion, as he pegged him a vampire from the outset and is quite suspicious of the guy.

2. The most common criticism (and one I share) is that the guy playing for Ed skips over dialogue too much. Specifically during idle convos with party members. He does feel scatterbrained in that he's juggling multiple roles of interacting with Ed, managing chat, and trying his best to learn the functions of a game.

3. Ed is quite impressed with how much the game mimics the feel of a tabletop D&D session. He also loves the graphics of "beautiful scenery and how it fits the terrain."

4. About 50 or so minutes in, Ed addresses a chat member's comment about raising funds to buy him a gaming computer. While appreciative of the offer, he doesn't have faith that he'll know how to use it.

Sounds a bit like my father. Only 65 and won't touch a cell phone.

I find it hilarious that while Ed is a gamer he's not a video gamer. He's never played ANY Baldur's Gate and he even helped make them apparently (with lore etc im sure).
