DarwinofMind: Or "Journeyman", if you want to come from farther afield? (Though I myself have always been a sucker for Local Hero stories, 'tis true. It calls to the Defender in me. :)). In any event, I'm just brainstorming here, don't feel pressured or anything.

SuperZero: The "Stewardship" thing makes a lot of sense, perticularly if that was the mandate his family was given: "Preserve *this*!". By the by, while on the subject, could you share a few of the most popular rumors on why the Silverscales decided to establish a kingdom at all? (I'm assuming we're paying them taxes/tributes, but still I'm sure a lot of people have their own theories. right? :))

Jemal: Wow, the first month must be going well if you have *extra* free time after the babby's birth. Welcome aboard! Re concepts... Baby dragon *not* in humanoid form? Limited 'levitation' flight, breath weapon, etc, etc.

Actually for the baby dragon I was thinking he stays in Human form. Either he can't change back bc he's locked by his elders, won't bc it's against the rules, or doesn't remember what he is.
In any case I could try a power stunt to 'shift' into his true form if it's ever required in game, orstart buying the power as we grow.

As to baby, yeah it's going great.I mostly post from work or while baby's sleeping so it's not affecting me as much as I expected.

Here's my first draft build. I'm very pleased with it. Capable of covering several roles, but not in a way that threatens specialists, I think, this character will likely be shifting forms a lot in any encounter.

Note that 'humanoid' form covers humans, elves, possibly dwarves...any being of human proportions and body shape, of normal human size. The idea being that not ALL humanoid forms will have low light vision and a Dex bonus...but she can become an Elf, so those abilities need to be in the bag. She can 'mix' those powers with a bit more flexibility than the abilities of, say, a tiger, because of the similarity between humans and elves...the same similarity that lets them have children together, in fact. Races with very different traits, like halflings and perhaps Dwarves will get their own separate alternate effects, with a reduced ranking in Morph that only covers their race.

The Beginner's Luck advantage is meant to represent 'flashes' of insight from previously lost memories momentarily revealing themselves. I plan on buying Comprehend both for languages and animals as well, but couldn't afford them just yet. We'll say she's relatively newly awakened. :)

I don't see Aridha limited to animal shapes. These are just the shapes she's acquired so far. In choosing them, we learn the story of her awakening.

[sblock]When I awoke, I only knew hunger. I caught a cat that was investigating me, and I ate it.

Later, as the cat, I climbed a tall tree and found an eagle's nest. The mother was away, so I ate a chick.

From the sky I looked down and spied a snake sunning itself on a rock, alert to danger from every direction but upwards.

When I was swimming in a watering hole, a tiger came to the water's edge to drink. It did not see me until I struck. I survived its paw, and while I waited my poison overcame it.

She does not mention how she gained the shape of a human, or elf.[/sblock]

Complications
--------------
Physical Sample - To acquire the ability to shift into a new species, Aridha must ingest part of it. Blood, skin, bone, meat, hair...any part of it will do. The creature sampled can be living or dead, willing or unwilling. Once a species has been added, Aridha can imitate any individual of that species that she touches. No ingesting is required for this, but skin to skin contact is required.

Blank Slate - Whenever her Immortality causes her to recover from death, she loses memories based on how severe the damage is, and how old the memories are (older memories being more fragile in this case). She also loses whatever shapes she's learned up to that point, reverting to Humanoid form, but capable only of using the Morph ability from that form until specific abilities are absorbed.

Collector - She experiences an almost instinctive urge to acquire more forms, and while she can control the impulse, it's always there. This does not require her to commit murder, but it can be tricky to say the least.

Jemal: Any of those look fine to me.
As for the lethality, I was just thinking genre differences--goblins die in fantasy whereas thugs in superhero stories are defeated by surprisingly nonlethal attacks and kept unconscious or tied up just long enough for the police to conveniently arrive--not any intention that it'll be a particularly lethal game. Like DnD: While death is possible, the heroes usually survive and major villains often do (at least until the final battle), but monsters and villain lackeys generally don't unless the heroes make a point of not killing them.
Shayuri: Looks good. I'm guessing the snake's poison is meant to be linked with the damage? I'm also guessing it's resisted by Fortitude, but what're the conditions?

:EDIT: Binder Fred: She's a benevolent figure who stabilized the region for the good of all of the people around. Of course, that version of the story is the one she told in the first place and that officials who want to stay on her good side repeat. People who think that she was maybe slightly more self-serving than that--she certainly benefits from the stability and from being warned of any serious dangers in the kingdom as soon as anybody finds out about it, not to mention the humanoid wizards that live in the keep and serve her however she wants in exchange for occasional pearls of ancient wisdom and knowledge--are not exactly rare.

Shayuri: How about making it 'Dire Wolf' instead of 'Tiger'? (I could be imagining the local fauna wrong, of course.) Closer to my heart, how/why do you see her ending up joining the adventuring party? Is she young (or maybe just young-looking?)? Maybe she could have been "adopted" by one of the PCs?

Adoption is possible. Young looking, yes. Even calling her 'she' is probably misleading...she has no idea if that's what she started as. It was just the first human shape she had, so it's what she defaults to now.

As for dire wolf...eh. It doesn't have to be a tiger. But GM, let me know if dire wolf is better, because if it is, I'll change up the creature's abilities some.

As for the venom, yes... The Affliction is linked to the damage; it is Fort based, and Impairs, Disables, or renders Unconscious. Your basic neurotoxin.

I'm leaning towards the young dragon character.
I've actually been having a thought about it lately.. Would you mind if he were a young member of the silverscales? I'm imagining the original SilverScale's youngest child. He ran away the day his mother died, and has been hiding from the remainder of his family ever since.
He's a fairly carefree happy nice guy that at the moment just enjoys adventuring, helping, and testing what he can do. WHY he's hiding from his brother(s?) is as yet undecided, we can figure that out, but he keeps his true nature hidden because of that.

I'm thinking of not really giving him his 'dragon powers' because they won't come into play, but if the campaign continues to the point where they start mattering, then I'll pay for them - Things like the standard dragon 'slow aging', his actual dragon form(Strength, size, breath weapon, flight, etc), his wealth/status/connections from his background, and so forth.

As for powers, I've narrowed to two ideas.

First is combining the 'force mage' and 'telekinesis' ideas I had together - TK being basically another application of force. The problem is I'd want to try it using the 'variable' setting, which most gms (understandably) have some hesitance about. I believe, however, that using variable with the descriptor of 'force effects' is sufficiently limiting that i won't be pulling stuff outta my .. portable hole .. that will throw you for a loop (Which seems to be most peoples issue with variable). Everything I'd want out of it would be variants on 'create object'(Using primarily basic geometric force shapes), afflictions(ALA Bigbys hand spells), direct damage (Force orb, Magic missile), Move Object(Telekinesis), or defenses (Wall of force/mage armour, basic force field stuff).
I could do all of that using a 'force array' that would probably cost the same or less, but Its the little tweaks that I like, and with the array I'd have to power stunt them.

Second idea is Transmutation: Pretty much a straight up 4 pt/rank transform (Non-living matter) power. Wouldn't have any direct damage capabilities, but I've got ideas for combat purposes.
*EDIT: May also throw in the 'swordmaster' with the transmutation if I can afford it, having the transmutations weave in with the sword-fighting - Using a longer range or area effect attack with the descriptor that he's actually altering the blades size to make the attacks.
