D&D 3E/3.5 Eliminated magic items from D&D 3.5

I tried to compile a list of magic items from the 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide that were cut from Pathfinder's Core Rulebook. I've left out magic items where the name has been renamed (Handy Haversack instead of Heward's Handy Haversack) or changed in some other way (Monk's Robe instead of Monk's Belt).

Please let me know if there are any omissions?

The last couple of days, I've been working on converting most of these "lost items" over to Pathfinder rules. I have purposefully left out the items which are apparently redundant with the belt and headband ability score enhancers, but am ambivalent about the gauntlets of ogre power. I am wondering if this magic item could not be "adjusted" slightly to make it unique enough apart from the belts of strength to justify its 'recovery'.

Here's the summary of what I had in mind

Gauntlets of Ogre Power:

▪ Gives +4 to Strength and Constitution (because ogres are both strong and tough)

▪ Occupies hands and wrists body slots (because these gauntlets are almost too big for medium-size humanoids to wear)

▪ On a limited basis (1/day?) can cast enlarge person on the wearer, granting an extra +2 to Strength (and the other attendant consequences of increased size) while the spell lasts. The only core magic items that carry enlarge person are the rod of wonder and a few staves, so this would be fairly unique.

▪ Would caster level remain 6th as per the original?

▪ Requires bull’s strength, bear’s endurance, and enlarge person to create.

So here are my conversions of the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and the Robe of Stealth (formerly Robe of Blending; I decided that PF changed the item enough that the old version could be its own item).

GAUNTLETS OF OGRE POWER

Aura faint transmutation; CL 6th

Slot hands; Price 32,800 gp; Weight 4 lb.

Description: These gauntlets are made of tough leather with iron studs running across the back of the hands and fingers. They grant the wearer great strength and resilience, adding a +4 enhancement bonus to his Strength score and a +2 enhancement bonus to his Constitution score. Additionally, the gauntlets can cast enlarge person on the wearer for a total of 6 minutes per day. This duration need not be continuous, but must be used in 1-minute increments.

Both gauntlets must be worn for their powers to be effective.

Construction: Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, bear’s endurance, bull’s strength, enlarge person; Cost 16,400 gp.

This was a big learning experience for trying to price items. I hope I understood the guidelines well enough.

Bull’s strength
SL 2, CL 6, cost = ability bonus(+4)^2 x 1,000 = 16,000 gp

Bear’s endurance
SL 2, CL 6, cost = ability bonus(+2)^2 x 4,000 x secondary(1.5) = 6,000 gp

Enlarge person
SL 1, CL 6, cost = SL x CL (6) x 1,000 x secondary(1.5) x 6/5 = 10,800 gp

16,000 + 6,000 + 10,800 gp = 32,800 (x0.5 for creation cost)

ROBE OF STEALTH

Aura moderate illusion; CL 10th

Slot body; Price 30,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.

Description: This nondescript item resembles a robe of blending but obfuscates the user in a different manner. When this robe is put on, the wearer intuitively knows that the garment has very special properties. A robe of stealth enables its wearer to appear to be part of his surroundings. This allows him a +10 competence bonus on Stealth checks. The wearer can adopt the appearance of another creature, as with the disguise self spell, at will. All creatures acquainted with and friendly to the wearer see him normally.

Construction: Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, disguise self, hallucinatory terrain, creator must have at least 10 ranks in the Stealth skill; Cost 15,000 gp.

I added hallucinatory terrain as a requirement since it seemed to fit with the function of the Robe of Stealth and justified its high caster level compared to the cheaper Pathfinder variant.

These items were lifted directly from the System Reference Document and then updated to work with Pathfinder's ruleset.

But there's always RPG Superstar I suppose :)

It pleases me to say that Ultimate Equipment brings back most of these "lost items." In the short time I was able to browse the document last night, I picked up on the elemental-conjuring items, the stone horses, and the mirror of mental prowess. Ironically there does not seem to be an analogue for the my conversion of the gauntlets of ogre power.

This is a bit outside of the original poster's subject, but is anyone else curious about the items and artifacts from the 2E DMG that were never updated to 3E? I miss my quill of law.
