Hmm... I would say that the ego boost it gives me is about equal in inverse proportions to your sense of inadequacy.

Huge ego boost here!! This is like the best day ever, way better then when my son was born!! ;) :D

I'd agree with all those nominations. And, perhaps, this thread should inspire a contest. EN Worlders nominate an iconic poster and then we have a series of polls that votes the iconics "off the island" until there are say, ten left.

These ten winner get an iconic "poster" portrait done of them by Klaus or some other artist.

Opinions?

With barely 1000 posts to my name, I don't know if I'm "iconic." :)

I plan to support both systems (4.0 and 3.5), although 75% of my efforts will go toward 4E. Blackdirge Publishing with feature one or two 3.5 lines, and the rest will likely be converted. So far, my freelance workload has been nothing but 4E.

Honestly, even though I've been immersed in 4E for the last three weeks or so, I still haven't formed a strong opinion on it. Some of it I like, some of it I don't. I think once I actually get to play 4E more, rather than spending the bulk of my time designing for it, I'll be able to make a better judgment.

Rel, even if you're not on these boards as often, you're a shining icon at Gen Con. I mean, even Teflon Billy didn't make the list! And what about Michael Morris? Claudio Pozas? Hm. Like so many, with the turning of the age, it looks like they have traveled into the west, to Circvs Maximvs.

Oh, and don't forget to add Ranger Wickett! (whom I secretely hope does make the switch to True20. I and others at True20.com want our True20 EOM:Revised and EoM:Mythic Earth)

Well, I admit I like a nice ego boost, but on the True20 front, it almost certainly ain't gonna happen, sadly. I'm going 4e with enthusiasm that is mixed with rampant frustration because of how much I dislike the new aesthetic. Dungeonpunk was much more my thing, apparently.

Anyway, I'm getting out of writing my own rules. When I do more game design work (and aside from one article for Paizo, I have nothing on the table), it'll be adventures, or small fiddly bits, not complex magic systems.

Plus, dammit, I plan to get a novel published. They're a lot more fun than game design.

Well then, join us over in Spycraft land, where TheAuldGrump has already done some EOM conversion legwork.

I would add Mark and Nifft to any EN World "iconics" list as well - even though Nifft is confused with regard to 4e.... :D

Oh, and Grazzt and Boz should also be there (although I haven't seen ol' Boz in a while).

While we're at it, Hypersmurf and Henry are both in the top 10 posters and a Moderator and Admin pair. They're pretty iconic. Hypersmurf is, perhaps, the iconic rules guru (of 3.X at least). But I think the list is frozen now.
