[sblock=forced movement]I too was very disappointed when I found out I couldn't drag things down to the ground. I also felt like an idiot, since I had recently used forced movement to do just that (sorry Kalidrev, I think the messenger probably should have gotten away after all).

If I had to guess as to why this rule exists, it's to stop people from forcing targets up. For example, without this rule you could use Cutting Words to pull a target along the vertical diagonal towards you. Then they would drop, taking fall damage. Thunderwave would become hilarious and overpowered for a deva wizard with 18 wis, dealing 1d6+2d10+int damage and knocking prone. And that's just an At-will.

Basically, you can blame CaBaNa :p. If he hadn't fey stepped onto the roof, then I wouldn't have had to escalated by actually using hover.[/sblock]

Catein moves into position between the two seekers and sends another beam of holy light in the direction of the one that Bell has indicated. But only vaguely in that direction. It's possible Catein was shooting at a distant rock instead. It can be hard to tell these things when a silent construct is wandering the battlefield blasting away at stuff.

[sblock=actions]
move to M10
Avenging Light at Seeker 72
...1d20+4 vs Fort 12 = 8 miss!

OOC: I believe CaBaNa waited for clarification and didn't repost. Assuming he won't get his brain eaten by that seeker, Martelai will attack opposite one.

OOC2: Would the stones near the river provide some cover? I'm moving Martelai there for prime shot and for him to provide cover to Kendrick, but I won't mind if there is additional cover for Martelai too :)

Martelai hurries forward, putting himself between the seeker and his companions, trying to provide cover for Kendrick and Atlas. On the way he damns the seeker over the river by Khirad's Law and (almost) blasts it with another bolt of eldritch energy.

[sblock=Actions]
Move: to J 7, concealment
Minor: Curse seeker 72
Standard: Eldritch Blast with Fate of the Void and Prime Shot
Eldritch Blast (1d20+6=12, 1d10+4=6, 1d6=4)

MISS BY ONE! Prime time to curse and kill one of the husks :)

Veruzak makes the same motions as before, sitting up, and blasting a ball of fire toward the closest enemy, before laying back down to avoid the tentacle nastiness. Their attacks are so potent! I swear as soon as I get a moment to sit down, and really study my spellbook again, I'm going to learn something of psychic arcana. Veruzak continues to stare at the power over the mind, knowing he had access to those abilities. Just amazing!

Move stand

standard scorching burst on seeker 31 20 vs reflex for 6 fire damage

minor drop prone

Kendrick gets back on his feet unsteadily. Damn, he is unpopular amongst Seeker. He then drops a sword and draws a handaxe, prepared to hit a new target.

[sblock]
Move: Get up
Standard: move to M16
Minor: Draw a handaxe (drop a sword)

They are flying, right?[/sblock]

ooc: Seeker 31 is elevated. Seeker 72 is in the middle of difficult terrain, but still targetable by melee attacks. And the stones aren't large enough to give cover.

The being floating near the cabin reaches out for Veruzak, but the eladrin quickly rolls out of the way. The one over the stream trembles violently before lancing out at Atlas, Catein, and Martelai with its tendrils. Atlas avoids the attack, but the other two are hit dead on, and suffer accordingly.

[sblock=Status]Initiative:
Martelai (13/28, bloodied, Concealed)
Seeker 31 (-9, Cursed, bloodied)
Seeker 72 (-4, Cursed)
Veruzak (15/20, prone)
Kendrick (7/31, bloodied)
Bell (10/25, bloodied)
Atlas (25/26, +2 to all defenses)
Catein (5/27, bloodied)

Look at all that pretty red.

Seeker 31 attacks Veruzak, but misses with a 9.

Seeker 72 uses Tendril Flurry against Atlas, Catein, and Martelai. Atlas is missed with an 11, Catein is critted, and Martelai is hit with a 23, all against Reflex. Catein takes 9 psychic damage and Martelai takes 3. Both are bloodied, but some are more bloodied than others. Rolls. Man, the jellies love their crits.

As a delightful continual reminder, Seeker 31 is currently floating 3 squares above the ground, out of melee range of someone on the ground. And you can't use forced movement to move someone vertically.[/sblock]

[sblock=Monster Info]Seeker:
AC 12 | Fort 12 | Reflex 13 | Will 14
HP: 18. Insubstantial. Vulnerable 5 psychic.
MBA: +4 vs Reflex, 1d4+3 psychic damage.[/sblock]
