First Post
Plot

The Enterprise comes across a vessel from the future that is highly sought by several other groups.

Thoughts on the episode...

I've decided that the Temporal Cold War (TCW) storyline isn't doing anything for me. This wasn't a bad episode, in fact I thought it was pretty good. But the whole TCW just isn't holding my attention that much. They find evidence items from the future; the Suliban want them; they lose the items; T'Pol still doesn't accept it; repeat as needed.

That said though, I have to admit that I liked how this particular story was handled. Yeah the Suliban were in there like a dirty shirt, but so were the Tholians! Gotta love those guys. I am not sure that I like their involvement in the TCW but I've had a bit of a soft spot for the Tholians since TOS. Overall the plot made as much sense as any one I've seen so far and had as much continuity as I have come to expect from the series.

Nice nod to Zeframe Cochrane in this episode. But didn't he show up in a TOS episode? I'm sure he did. Oh no...my trek knowledge is fading...TCW altering history...

Overall - 7/10 - a decent episode in my books.

Yes Zefram Cochrane shows up the "metamorphasis" and has been kept young and alive by a creature known as the entity.

Appernetly he had become a wanderer and crash landed on the entity's home planet.

They already screwed up the continuity when they made him a scientist from earth.
In the original episode Spock says that Zefram was from Alpha Centauri not earth.

How did they handle the Tholians? That sounds interesting.

Re: Tholians

Spoiler rich...

The Tholians apparently are aligned with another faction in the TCW. Their ships are straight out of TOS and their voice is very alien, again similar (yet updated) to TOS. You don't get to see them directly (voice communication only) but they do try to board Enterprise by cutting through the docking hatches.

The Tholians engage the Suliban in combat and prove to be more than a match for them. They even disable a Vulcan War Cruiser.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

I liked seeing the Tholians. But the producers can keep all their time travel nonsense. For a while I hoped it was just a short term arc, but its beginning to look like they'll drag it out for the entire run of the show. Bleah.

bah, failed VCR operation check ... (forgot to check vcr length, was on 2hour not 4!)

sooo, when is this gonna be reshown? *wolf goes to check tv listing sites*

p.s. wolf's gf says hi! :D

Hi wolf's GF.

I liked the episode and the Tholian ship was updated as well. The only reason I know is that I was looking through old magazines and saw the old models of the ships.

I like the way the did the interrior of the ship they found. I did think T.A.R.D.I.S. I also was wondering what was up with Zefram being a mut like he was. Sounds like they are setting something up for later episodes.

In the movie First Contact, he was shown living on earth, where he invented the first human warp drive. In the pilot of Enterprise, a recording of him was shown and I think they said he recorded that from Alpha Centauri. Presumably, he emigrated there after inventing a ship that made is possible to get there in his lifetime. No continuity errors there.
