[Epic] Some strange questions

Dagger75

Epic Commoner
I have a level 3 Ranger/4 Fighter/11 Barbarian. The group is about to go epic. Now when he hits 21 total level, a level 15 barbarian, Will he get the Greater Rage Ability??

Myself and some memebers of my group find the rules a little unclear.

When your total character level exceeds 20, you begin taking epic levels, regardless of levels in individual classes. So instead of gaining the abilities of 15-20th level Barbarian, you go straight to the epic version.

I don't think so. You still get the Greater Rage ability for a 15th level barbairian. Becasue your character level is 21 though you can start taking epic feats. However, you don't get epic class proggression until your class hits 21 levels. Your BAB and saves, though, will be epic though.

Still more questions for you geniuses

10 Rogue/10 Bard at 21st level he chooses Fighter as a class, He gets the Epic feat at 21st level BUT will he get the bonus fighter feat? If he does can he choose a bonus epic fighter feat if he qualifies??

Depends who you ask. In the book there it says he can take an epic fighter feat (page 6 I think). However, Andy Collins, the guy who wrote the Epic Level Handbook has said that this is not the case. When asked about the rule in the book, well I never heard he ever responded to that.

No. Page 11 of the ELH, Epic Fighter, Bonus Feats, states...

The epic fighter gains a bonus feat (selected from the list of epic fighter bonus feats) every two levels after 20th.

A class isn't epic until you have 20 levels in that class. If you aren't a 21st or higher level fighter, you can't select an epic feat as a bonus fighter feat because you aren't an epic fighter yet but you can select a non-epic feat from the non-epic fighter bonus feat list. However, any feats you gain because of character level can be epic feats.

The only thing page 6 references is the feats gained because of character level, then it references the individual class descriptions for bonus feats.

The reference is on page eight, second column, first paragraph, last sentence. "When you have to choose from a list of bonus feats in your second class, you can also (emphasis mine) choose from the bonus epic feats described for each specific class below." The word "also" strongly implies that you would ordinarily not have access to the epic feat list, which specifically means non-epic levels. So a Wiz20/Ftr1 could, for example, pick up Epic Prowess as his first Fighter bonus feat.

Having said that, play it in whatever way you want. I personally see nothing overpowered about it either way.

My bad, page 8 as the above post says. I wasn't referencing the book thus wasn't sure.

That same page also states (first column, second paragraph)...

You must select these feats from the list of bonus feats for that class, much like the nonepic fighter selects his bonus feats from the specific list in the Player's Handbook.

So far I've quoted two passages that state otherwise. This isn't looking good for the offense, me thinks. ;)
