Error in Hospitaler? (From Complete Divine)

First Post
I have a char concept that would fit Hospitaler *perfectly*--except.

One glance at the prereqs says it's designed as a mounted PrC. One look at the abilities the PrC provides says it's designed with Paladins in mind.

So...how...the...*HELL*...can it be that Hospitaler levels don't stack with Paladin levels for the purposes of determining the mount's abilities? It even says the LoH ability stacks with a Paladin's.

Please tell me this omission was a mistake (and, if possible, point me to the place that says it is!) --If not, could someone tell me what possible rationale could justify this? The PrC *sucks* without that benefit, and it can be argued that it isn't all that powerful even with that ability.

Thanks.

I wouldn't say the PrC sucks... imagine a 5th fighter/1st cleric taking hospitaller levels ;) by 20th you could have either 5 fighter/5 cleric/10 hospitaller (12th level casting, 18 BAB) or 6 fighter/4 cleric/10 hospitaller (11th level casting, 19 BAB)

Not bad ! And not as hideously overpowerred as the 3.0 hospitaller, either. Basically its a fighter that gets slightly less hp and 3 less feats in exchange for 7/10 spellcasting, lay on hands and a couple of remove diseases.

It's definately less desireable for a paladin.. they give up smite, their mount, a few hp and a couple of levels of already horrible spell progression and get... a couple of bonus feats. Yay. To be honest the only way going into this PrC is worthwhile as a paladin is to take a level of cleric and progress that spellcasting isntead of your paladin casting. At least that way you get some worthwhile spells out of it ;)
