Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Reclining in the chair at her table, Rilissa studies the people in the room, hoping to learn something interesting about each person. Unfortunately, this never was her strong point. By her judgement, the tavern seems to be a mish-mash of strangely garbed citizens of Daunton, some carrying weapons, some not. Definitely not anyone of her caliber.

"Hmmph" she mutters under her breath. "Barely anyone here worth working with. They just don't breed 'em strong here like they do back home."

Just the the barmaid comes back with her dinner and drink. Rilissa drags her feet off the table with a thump, and eyes the side of beef, potatoes and mug of mead with interest. Opening her purse strings, she pulls out payment, and a silver to tip the barmaid to keep her cup full.

"This leg here is from the mind devouring hive overlord. Veruzak helped with that one. Group of us, including our youngest member, Bell, helped restore some islanders after they were subsumed into the hive after we killed it. ."
Explains Martelai showing one of insectile like legs
"It devoured my original rod and took it's magic upon it self, but changed so it blasts calls attention of the stars downward."

"It destroyed a pirate clan called Red Crows from Bacarte which is why I'm going there to see if anything can be salvaged. Unfortunately, I got derailed by a father needing his son protected and his brother found. The brother was part of some secret trade deal through hidden portal. The colony there ran into some trouble with local lizardmen which were driven out by something out of their homes. It was (again) a hive. This time it was hive of kruthik. This armor, helm and leg are of her carapace. The Queen was mighty creature, but of beastly inteligence. Highly magical though. About both you can find my reports in IAC library."

HE then pauses and turns toward crystaline creature.
"What are you, Shale, if you don't mind me asking. I heard about plants that came alive becoming some kind of natural wardens, wilden, I believe, but I don't think you are plant. Is earth itself becoming alive? Would you like to join Institute of Arcane Ciphers?"

"I concur"

"Is earth itself becoming alive? Would you like to join Institute of Arcane Ciphers?"

"I have little idea myself. I don't believe I'm animated earth - my essence or true self don't seem to be related to elemental spirits, rather I think the crystals that compose my body are actually needed to focus my mind and prevent disintegration. I hope to trascend one day this limitation, though; to me, seems a rather primitive crutch -even if it's vastly superior to your fleshy beings- and exist as pure thought."

"This is pure speculation based on studying myself, though. I've not existed for much time, and for as long as I remember I've been a prisoner of an arcane organization that kept me, unwillingly, a a subject of study. With little success, if I may add. Since I freed myself I've looked for others of my kind to inquire in my origins, but not even a cosmopolitan city as Daunon holds a Shardmind population greater than me. I'm temped to leave the city and traver to farther lands, where I may find answers."

A woman in exotic robes walks in, long blond hair flowing down her back. One eye is pure white, a thin scar running down her cheek from her eye socket. The tattoo of some mythical bird is tattooed on her bare midriff.

"Word to the wise; if someone tells you their barn is safe, it's a trick. You'll end up in some unknown plane dealing with living darkness."
She grins and pale fire dances across her hair. "I'm not even sure how we got out of it or where everyone else is, but I guess I'm temporarily unemployed if anyone is looking for the skillset of an arcane bounty hunter..."

OOC: Level 6 Pyromancer Mage ready to go. Could also use some judge approvals.

I think I'll be staying here permanently.

Lilli pats Gil on the arm in return, "I'm not sure I'll be here forever, but like as not it will be for a long while, off and on."

"Oh, and regarding IAC reports, I've left one in the IAC with the clerks about Stargazer Hill; it is based on what we saw and with credit due for our assorted hypothoses about the place."

She breaks into a smile, "Anyway, the step up to Sapient membership level proved to be a boon indeed. Just look at these shoooooes. Genuine Blackleaf, a rare species of Arcadian feyleaf, I'll have you know. Aren't they just gorgeous!? Gen's Tailoring helped with the assembly and stitching."

Lilli gives a quick twirl, showing off her revamped outfit behind the table. As she does, the ghostly spider moves around her, never taking its many eyes off Gil.

The door to the tavern opens and a darkskinned Genasi enters the room. It's difficult to determine exactly what color his skin actually is, as it almost seems to absorb the light instead of reflecting it back as it should. He carries a staff and has a crossbow strapped to his back. He looks around, taking in the tavern's interior and patrons.

"Greetings friends, my name is Sha'kar Menoth. I hear this is the place to come to find work."

OOC: Level 1 Genasi Artificer ready to adventure! This is my second char since Tyris just hit level 2

Artemis notices the exotic woman's entrance immediately. He gives a quick nod to Bob (the bartender) and flashes two fingers while walking toward the bar. He grabs the two ales as soon as Bob sets the tankards on the bar and approaches the arcanist.

"Sorry to hear of your misfortune," grins the human, offering one of the ales, "So, now that you have some time on your hands, how do you want to spend it. M'lady?"
