Everquest bashing

Some news woman was interveiwing a mother whos son quit his job, left his apartment a mess, and shot himself. He played Everquest all the time and she said that when they found him he was dead with the Everquest game on his computer running. Ben Stein was on talking about how his son ( age 15 ) was addicted to it and would play it for hours at a time all weekend long. They asked his kid and he was like: " Ya, I was addicted." The reporter then sat in front of a computer with someone and they looked at this site for people that are addicted to Everquest and she started reading letters from loved ones of addicted players. A man from Sony was there defending the game. They showed some convention for Everquest players. When I was watching this I became very upset. It was very much like the D&D bashing that went on in the 80s. The news lady was obvioulsy bent on putting a certain spin on this game. Not one thing she did presented the other side of the arguement, short of interveiwing the man from Sony but then she raised her eyebrow and gave reactionary questions.

What's this world coming to? Next thing ya know they'll interview someone addicted to cigarettes, claiming to be dying of the stuff. Sheez.

Kidding aside, EQ is probably one of the safest things to be addicted to.

That is so fu**ed up.

Run outside kiil a rat. Run inside heal up. Run outside, kill a rat, run inside, heal up. Run outside, kill a snake. Run inside heal up. Run outside....

Now THAT is how you Everqueef Bash! :D

News people always seem to miss the point. Just as when they blame music for suicides, etc. It is not the material that is causing this, or else we would be seeing a tremendous amount of this stuff going on from most people using it. The real issue here is, what is wrong with these people that causes them to self destruct? If it was not one thing, it would be another that pushes them over the edge. They are obviously in need of mental help, unforunately they rarely get it in time.

Edit : And it is far easier for parents to blame games, songs, etc than admit their child had a problem.

I got news for you Dragongirl, news people don't miss the point. They know tht this kind of story sells. They know that this kind of story gets ratings. THAT is why they present it in such a fashion. They know better.

Probably. I would love to see no commercials during News so there is less desire to boost ratings.
