Everything World of Darkness Ever - Vampire Prelude: Blood Dawn (OOC)

The idea here is that she's beautiful but doesn't believe it, and hates the attention she attracts. She is brilliant, and loves to paint (though I haven't figured a way to get the artist part in there yet... I'm sure it's there somewhere though). Hopefully I don't have this too bass-ackwards.

Looks good.

Step Five: Abilities

Abilities are what other games call skills or proficiencies. They are what the character has learned - through trial and error, practice, or formal education. Abilities all start at a rating of 0 (meaning the character has no training) and are measured from 1 to 5, just like Attributes.

Also like Attributes, Abilities are divided into three categories that must be prioritized - Talents (self taught and instinctual abilities), Skills (abilities learned through repeated practice), and Knowledges (abilities learned through books and formal education).

Once you've prioritized the categories, you have 13 points to spend on your primary category, 9 points to spend on your secondary category, and 5 points to spend on your tertiary category. At this point in the process, no ability can have a rating higher than 3 (you'll be able to increase them to 4 or 5 later on or during the story with experience).

Done.

Jo Saunders will begin the story a mortal but is it acceptable for me to go ahead and outline her in advance using the ghoul-creation rules that are present in the back of the book (perhaps sans-freebie points, as I get the impression those are specifically supposed to be used to round out PCs)?

Don't worry about your character's stats as a mortal. There will be little to no dice rolling or mechanics involved in the Prelude. For NPCs affiliated with a character (retainers, allies, etc), let me worry about their stats (though you can certainly have some input).

Also, everyone, please post your freebie point expenditure breakdown at the bottom of the your character sheets, please. Thanks. :)

Step Six: Disciplines

Disciplines are the special powers of the Kindred. Each clan as three clan disciplines, the signature powers of their bloodline. Each discipline is rated from 1 to 5, with each rank unlocking new powers within the discipline. As a newly embraced vampire, you have 3 points to spend on disciplines.

The clan disciplines for Toreador are...

Auspex - Powers of perception and the senses, giving the vampire supernatural levels of awareness.
Celerity - Supernatural speed and reflexes.
Presence - Powers of emotional manipulation and influence.

Step Seven: Backgrounds

Backgrounds are the ties to the character's mortal and immortal life and encompass a variety of different people, places, and things. You have 5 points to spend on Backgrounds, which are rated from 1 to 5.

Allies - Mortal friends, family, and loved ones in places of importance in the world of the living.

Alternate Identity - A fabricated persona, complete with documentation.

Contacts - Mortal sources of information; people you can go to for rumors, leads, and gossip.

Domain - Your own personal piece of the pie; a territory that is yours to command.

Fame - Notoriety or celebrity status in the mortal world; at 1 you are known locally, at 5 you are a household name across the world.

Generation - The number of steps, or generations, you are removed from the original vampire. No ranks in this background indicates a Generation of 13. Each rank in this background lowers your Generation by one. One rank equals Generation 12, two ranks equals Generation 11 and so forth.

Herd - A ready and regular supply of mortals upon which you can feed.

Influence - A measure of your "pull" and power in mortal society.

Mentor - An older vampire, usually but not always your sire, who has taken you under their wing.

Resources - Your material wealth and belongings. No ranks in this background means the character is barely scraping by financially while 5 ranks indicates a millionaire.

Retainers - Mortal servants and protectors.

Status - Your relative status in vampire society.

I'm TillForPie's friend. I have some Masquerade experience but not much of Requiem. I am looking forward to seeing it plays compared to Requiem. I'm getting pretty excited to start this campaign.
