D&D 5E "Evil" options limited to the DMG?

That's how it's sounding. Screwy, huh?

Indeed.

Maybe there are a bunch of domains in the DMG that just didn't make the cut for the PHB due to space? I'd be unimpressed by that, but you could excuse including them as "less-used" spheres of influence for gods in the world-building chapter or something.

If it's because it's "EVIL!!!!", then, thanks, WotC, for providing the FULL 2nd Edition AD&D experience with 5E, right down to being terrified by Satanic Panic nonsense! ;)

I had thought this too. Even though we've not heard/seen any tweets about them or anything, if the "[evil] Death" domain is going in the DMG, then it's not that big a stretch to imagine domains like "Destruction [Demon]" or "Disease", "Bloodllust", "Corruption [Devil]"...maybe a separate "Undeath" domain, itself, could all be found there.

Perhaps along with some NPC type of "Eeevilll Necromancer" who's a bigger n' badder BigBad than the Necro's for PCs?

[EDIT] and yeah, I concur that the [nn-evil] Death cleric ought to be an option in the PHB. But I guess putting it in the DMG with a footnote/sidebar about "While those with access to the Death domain often worship cruel wicked deities or powerful fiends of evil alignment, whether a particular campaign's god of Death or the Underworld is evil or not and non-evil cleric PCs of a Death deity/with access to the Death domain are options to be decided by individual DMs for their particular campaign."

I hope so. With Mystra's popularity we need a Magic domain.

I would be exceedingly surprised if Knowledge does not also include magic. In the playtest, the domains were intentionally very, very broad.

And the good news it that an appendix at the end of the PHB will tell you which domains apply to which deities in the pantheons of Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Greek, Norse, Celtic, Egyptian, (and I believe Eberron was mentioned).

But being a Cleric of Osiris is key.

I'd second that, but the Death domain in the DMG is likely not really suitable for a good/neutral god of death. We'll need a different domain for Osiris, Kelemvor, Raven Queen etc.

I am not a fan of gods of magic, but I am anyway surprised that a Magic domain wasn't included in the first batch.

Thank you! This is what I was trying to say earlier. Even if the Death domain (as it's given to mortal clerics) is somehow inherently evil, that doesn't mean every god who includes death in their portfolio is evil. It just may mean they don't offer that particular domain.
