Evil or just.........mostly evil?

We don't play again until this Saturday. I like the players, it just seems that characters in our situation would be more incilned to work together to survive and not be, for lack of a better word...."stupid" about things.

Just remember, if it comes down to playing your character truthfully, or stomping on someone else's fun, you'll need to decide which of those two is more important to you.

I agree but I am getting tired of being the only one making concessions.

That seems to be the real issue here, in terms of determining your long-term future with the group.

I don't disagree with that either. I seem to have very bad luck with groups and maturity levels lately. Where are all the grown-ups in my life?

It's sad the the only mature gamers I know (with one or two exceptions) are online.

Hrm, I was about to offer that you could join one of our groups, but now that I think about it we're not that mature, either.

We're all 30-33, but during game sessions we drink and smoke like we're still in college. So if you're actually employed on Travis AFB, you might not approve of that second part.

"During game sessions..." who am I kidding? I just brought a keg into the office today.

Not just employed, I'm actually in the Air Force. I have no problem with the drinking part, in fact I plan to have a Guiness in my hand within the hour. I used to smoke until I collapsed a lung in Iraq in 2004.

I refuse to engage in another straw man arguement with you.

Of course you do. Your position is tenuous.

You pulled out the "Would this be evil for a Paladin?" card since Paladins are generally held to a higher standard.

But the fact remains is that people claw for life in emergency situations and it is not evil to do so. It is basic survival.

KD - There's a little bit of unfairness in your example in that it is a basic impulse for someone drowning to grab at something and desperately pull. It is not a basic impluse for someone to step on someone else; that is in this case a reasoned, conscious decision.

Do you really believe this or are you just trying to justify an evil conscious interpretation of the OP's decision?

When drowning or potentially drowning (or in the position to drown as in this case), both arms and legs are used in an attempt to survive.

The player made a conscious decision, but it was a decision for the PC made with the assumption that the dwarf was already dead. Or am I the only one who read his original post?

3 rounds later I'm still chest deep in quicksand and the Druid is completely submurged and as far as my character can tell, dead. During my struggle I feel the dwarf near my legs. Like I said, I think he's dead so instead of letting go with one hand and trying to grab him (also remember we just met) I step on him to propel myself upwards.
