Expedition to the Demonweb Pits ToC

Mostly the fact a) he's standing and b) his shading is a bit brighter than in Dungeon. Otherwise you're right, there's not much difference.

Ahh...the artwork. I didn't pay much attention there. :lol:

Yes the artwork! :p I thought I made that clear in my last post. :p Guess not. But yes the artwork in this one (EttDP), is better than the one in Dungeon 129.

Interesting to note, the cambion gets odd-number racial ability modifiers. Previously, this was strictly verboten. Are we seeing an intentional change in the design philosophy?

Actually, the whole racial block is well wonky. Besides the odd ability score adjustments (which must be an error, surely), it has a favored class of assassin. But PrCs don't count for multiclassing penalties anyway, so that's entirely redundant...

I'll note that I already have the book on pre-order from Amazon. The previews that just went up are just gravy on top. :)

The mention of baron and marquis cambions was nice, and I like the artwork for the Cambion as well. Rule-of-Three being an actual son of Grazzt is a change, or a lie, or maybe neither (*counting to three*) but I can't say I'm opposed to it. He's a fun character.

The Oculus demon is pretty nifty, and the artwork (again) is really nice.

The pair of jackal lords are a nice use of a rarely used, but cool nonetheless, monster.

The in-text inserted, in-character quotations of the style from some of the Planescape books are a little gem. Alluvius Ruskin saying bad things about cambions. That's amusing coming from Old 'Lu, pitiless magic eating Incantifer that she is.

This looks very very good. The only thing I can really complain about, and I'm assuming it was something done by the editors/developers rather than the authors, was that the city-stats for Sigil are a direct copy/paste from the Planar Handbook, which unfortunately means that we've got a repeat of the "LN" wonkiness from that book trying to assign an alignment to the Lady of Pain. After the flood of complaints a few years ago about both the attempt to give her an alignment, and the alignment they tried to give, I would have expected them to omit that section with a blank, or a question mark, or something.

Yeah, I spotted some more wonkyness in the previews. For instance, in the oculus encounter, Thaas is mentioned as being a "legacy longbow", then later in the paragraph it's referred to as a sword.

@Hexgrid
The F13 map in the printed version has a grid. Don't worry :).

@Felon
The mistake unfortunately creeped into the final book. Thaas is a longbow. No big deal in my opinion :).

@Shemeska
There are also some c&ps in the description of Graz'zts realm, which are taken from FC1. The demonlord aspects look like they have been taken directly from the webenhancement.

@Nightfall
There is even another picture of the oculus demon, which also depicts a blueish, female looking one.

I've found several errors with the monsters in this book:

---The table under the Book of Flesh and Mirrors says that the spell Mirror Magic is a 1st-level spell yet it's listed later as a 5th-level spell

---With the cambion demon, they screwed up on its racial ability adjustments for using it as a player character. It also lists Assassin as its favored class even though prestige classes don't give XP penalties.

---The carnevus demon has SR 15 for being CR 9, despite its entry stating that "magic rolls of their hides like rain".

---Abyssal Giants lack an entry on two of their special qualities. It's missing the entry on abyssal resistances. The other is mentioned under the Knowledge Check Lore, describing them as being immune to slashing weapons but no where in their entry is this stated.

If I find more I'll point them out.
