Deep within the bowels of the earth in the illithid city of Oryndll, the mind flayers have bred and cultivated guardians of awesome destructive power to compensate for their lack of physical prowess. Trogdor is the culmination of their breeding programs, raised and mind manipulated over the decades and equipped to deal with any threat to the city with the utmost fanaticism and loyalty. He would be used almost as a last resort against invaders to the city. Rarely (and fortunately) do the illithid bring him topside as such a 'force of nature' would have to be readily dealt with if the forces of good had a clue about his (or possible others like him!) existence.

In combat, Trogdor will attempt to initially stun his opponents with a massive thunderclap and then close in melee where he quickly reduces oppostion to pulp. Against flying oppoents or those cowardly spellcasters who stay away, Trogdor will throw his massive hammers knowing that they will return before his next attack.

Always, an illithid stablemaster will be nearby, invisible or ethereal, to maintain control and guard against any attempts to wrest control of Trogdor from them (i.e. acting as a passive combatant ready to counterspell/power any such attempts). In the city, the massive behemoth will likely be
mindlinked to the elder brain or ultra-illithid in charge of the city's defense ( and woe to the lowly PC psion who makes such an attempt!)

Q: What CR should the burninator have?

What about equipment?

I'd boost his CR by 1 potentially because of the massive worth and value of his equipment. He's got a huge amount of magic on him, and that improves his power tremendously.
 

so were you saying we should bump it from the 17 to an 18 or from the 19 to a 20 ?

I agree with the 17 to a n 18 or 19... but I am hesitant to say 19 to 20 simply because he doesnt seem like a cr 20, though I could be wrong. What do you think ?
 

I would think +1 to CR for his equipment and +1 to CR since we rolled his stats and in a way maxed him out...

that would give us a CR of 19!

then again...4 19th level characters might not have too much of a problem with miracles and wishes...but would you waste such power on on target?

Okay Broc, just a few correction ya need to make :D (teach me to send a character that doesnt have the bonuses explained beforehand)

Okay on Disguise the +4 is not from mindreading its the synergy bonus from having 25 ranks in bluff (ELH) and the +2 is not a synergy from disguise rather a +2 synergy from having 5 ranks in preform (you may choose to nix that one though, it just made sense given the use of the skill).

Next Bluff, the +10 from alter self is a no go. It only applies to disguise not bluff (mm p60). The +4 is not from mindreading rather a synergy bonus from having 25 ranks in disguise and lastly the +2 is not from disguise but rather profession actor(apropriate synergy bonuses from professions are allowed, If needed I can dig up the page number for ya).

Next pick pocket is 2 to low, the synergy for 25 ranks is 4 not 2 :D

Next disable device is an intel based skill not dex. so it should be a +47. The 5 point bonus difference in his dex vs. intel

Next balance :D once again the bonus from 25 ranks is 4 not 2 (you gotta trust my numbers more when I email you a guy bud, lol)

Okay now onto some number crunching that was my fault. The attack is +27 not 28. I had calculated that when he was still using a +5 weapon instead of a +4.

Ditto with damage should be +7 not +8. I need to double check my numbers when I rework equipment to get in under the cap, lol.

Okay the rest looks good. BTW if it seemd i was a little rough on ol Broc :D he asked me to post the correction here and not t email them to him, lol.
 

Question, I play in Brocs game. Is it bad form of me to design villians and creatures for him when he asks me (he also bounces plot ideas off of me looking for nefarious yet fun plot twists to throw the parties way). Several of my fellow players have expressed discontentment ove rmy 'helping' the DM to 'ice' the party.

I was just curios to get some fellow gamers opininions on players helping the DM and is there a line that should be drawn as a player (I like to help but dislike angering my fellow party members /shrug)

BTW Trogdor, hes my baby as well :D I looovvvveeeee Athachs, theyre cute :D lol.
