Exploring the Hase-Suna Complex (Manzanita judging) [Concluded]

Seems Payne didn't need to help the men, and Kongu, after all. Sheathing her daggers the Rogue is just about to turn and head towards the chest when the comments from both Kol and Zurd register. Pause. Her tongue rolls over her lips, wetting them in a sheen of saliva before replying. ``Sounds to me, someone is jealous of not being granted access to my box.`` The comment was tossed in Zurd's direction before she moves back over to the chest, now having picked the lock, and flips the lid to uncover whatever may lay within.

Kol gave out a deep belly laugh at Payne's comments. It lasted several moments until the big Barbarian started to wipe his eyes from laughing too much.

"Aha, a tongue as sharp as her daggers.."

Payne returns to the task of picking the lock. It is a very hard one, but with enough careful work she is eventually able to jimmy the chest open. Inside are a potion and two scrolls.

Kol, I have a question for you?

Who is the better the puppet or the master who makes the puppet dance as if not pulling any strings?

Better yet....

Kongu, do you know the song... <starts singing albeit poorly>

Poke, poke, poke, the sleeping dragon,

yet only whilst he sleeps...and you are but a pest

and when he wakes to swat the fly...

It's treasure you can keep...

Something about gaining the upper hand while appearing to be weak I think, not sure though, not sure...at all.

Ahh, thank you for your hard work, Payne what have we here lets take a look shall we...

Kol stood with ham-hands on hips. "Who cares who is better as long as you enjoy the dance. You friend do not enjoy life enough! Mayhaps our revealed treasure will take a measure of bitterness from thy tongue." He punctuated his statement by wagging his own tongue out and leaning in to see what was inside the box.

Payne winces at the singing, but she doesn't turn around. Lifting from the chest the three items, open palmed like.. showing them to Kol whom is standing over. ``Well, I've no idea what good these may do. Zurd, whenever you are done making noise.. could you come and look these over? Is Kyle well enough to take a gander as well? The more the merrier..`` The last comment not being produced with the jollyness it deserves.

Zurd takes the potion and first looks for obvious signs on the label if any. Then if he can't get anything from that he opens the stopper and examines the fluid inside.

Alchemy Check 15

Then taking the scrolls and mulling over them for a while...humm, I appears that this scroll is beyond my abilities to identify at this time.

[sblock]Zurd is right now wishing he had taken read magic as a spell...I won't be able to I'd the scrolls until I level up and take read magic as a spell or get some ranks in spellcraft. He won't admit he hasn't a clue though just that the spells must be too high level. [/sblock]

Lokin shakes of the general discomfort he had with the rats. He goes back to the door to check for more trouble, trying to ignore all box-talk. Lokin picks any rat guts off his sword and shield and waits for the searching of the room to be concluded.

Is it in the SRD that craft(alchemy) can be used to identify potions? I can't find it either in the craft section or the potions section, and the latter does have the following text
In addition to the standard methods of identification, PCs can sample from each container they find to attempt to determine the nature of the liquid inside. An experienced character learns to identify potions by memory—for example,...
in which it is conspicuous that no other method is mentioned.
