Fade Away

Ashodin

First Post
I'm not very clear about this ability, because it states that hte gnome skulk becomes "invisible", however is their Fade Away invisability just like standard invisiabilty?

here's the senario:

Player 1 shoots skulk and hits. Skulk immediate reaction fades away.
Next Players Turn
Player 2

Can they target the skulk as if it were an invisible creature (-5 for total concealment?) Or is the Skulk technically no longer there since it's faded away?

I was reading with how the invisible vs perception vs stealth stuff works but i'm clear because the skulk fades away not on his turn thus he cannot roll a stealth to no be perceieved.

I'd say you have the right of it:

1. Player 1 hits.
2. Remove Skulk mini from board.
3. Player 2 can attack, targeting the square, not the gnome skulk.
4. If the gnome skulk is still in the square, Player 2's attack is against him, with the standard -5 for total concealment.

You're correct, the skulk does not get to make a stealth check when it becomes invisible (though there's a feat for that), so the PCs are still aware of where it is. On its next turn, it could hide somewhere and make the check to become hidden. There's actually no reason to remove the mini from the board until that point though--attacks do take the -5, but there's no question where it is.

Good point, yesno.

I might pull the mini off the board for my players, but you're technically correct that there's no question where it is yet.

That's not quite what he means. Unless you make a stealth check--which is typically only made at the end of a move action--everyone knows what square you are in, even if you are invisible.
