Familiers???

My friend(character named Mindle) is looking for a good familier. We're limited to what we can choose from(due to say, post apocalypse ruled by the god of aberations, Crock), but we would never the less enjoy some good examples(or a place where we could find some good examples) of good familiers.

My old gnome necromancer had an undead stirge for a familiar It didnt grant any special ability, but it was able to drain up to 4 con a day (max) and it could inject them into my character for a bit of healing (1 hp back for each point of con it drained).

I dont think this is what you are going for though, do you mean from various official sources? Tome and Blood had quite a few I believe.

Said this in another thread, the Living Spells introduced in the Ebberron setting and MM3 will make for interesting familiers.
