Fane of the Drow (non-spoiler)

Grimstaff

I picked this up on a whim (20% off at Media-Play didn't hurt either ;) ) and was pleasantly surprised. I've been kind of avoiding WotC modules for a while due to them all being campaign-specific, I greater prefer setting-generic stuff.

Anyway, before buying I experienced some trepidation for three reasons:
1) It was unclear how much content was aimed at the Miniatures skirmish game, and
2) If it was aimed at RPing, no level recommendation was on the cover (unless I'm missing it somehow...)
3) Rampant, unnecessary "Drow-sturbation"!

So the "pleasantly surpised" part comes in that it is very much RP oriented, and was somewhat reminiscent of the old-school modules: 16 pages, detached cover, and hack/dungeoncrawl motif. The drow are also old-school style (no tragic heroes or subversive NG clerics, ugh!) and some other enemy races are nicely featured as well.

Overall, I would recommend it. Its easy to drop into an existing campaign, and is nice and compact, easily accomplished in 1 or 2 sessions, and easily expanded upon (look for an extra map in this month's Dragon magazine).

Oddly, on the subject of recommended level, they suggest 4th, yet most of the encounters seem to be CR 6. Now, this may be appropriate in context, but I wont know until I run it.
