Farewell, my Friend

I can only echo the sentiments of others here. I have been buying Dragon magazine on and off for over 20 years. Sometimes every month, sometimes only for that killer article I must have, lately just for the amazing Demonomicon articles.

I will miss Dragon.

I dunno why you guys are going nuts about DUNGEON and DRAGON magazines! I hate 'em! I mean, they're totally *EVIL*

After all, the sheer weight of them actually broke my bookshelf, spilling out all my old issues over the floor.

Pure evil, I say!

I'm *glad* they're running out... I was running out of room to store them all.

/sarcasm.

Seriously, though - the whole fiasco has brought me down. I'm looking forward to the final issues, although I'm pretty upset that I'll never see DARK SUN content again. I really loved those campaign classics.

There is no other publication of any kind that has been a part of my life for more than 3 or 4 years. Dungeon and/or Dragon has been a part of my life for over 20 years.

Thanks to everyone at Paizo/TSR for 20 years of great entertainment, ideas, inspiration, humor, and just plain coolness.

I can't express how much it has meant to me, let alone the sick feeling in my stomach that this is causing.

And that says it quite well for me too. ;)

Dungeon issues from the last few years have become the staple of my DMing career. I'm really going to miss it.

ps - I just saw Crown of the Kobold King the other day... holy amazing production values, Batman! Is Pathfinder going to be of similar quality?

Yeah; Pathfinder will indeed have the same production values as Kobold King. I've seen the first bounds, and they look super nice.

Hopefully it and the GameMastery modules will help soften the blow of the end of the magazines in print.

And for the record, I don't think Mike nearly froze me. Unless he used one of those fancy MiB memory wipers to make me forget about what REALLY happened that one day he drove me up to the top of Mount Rainier.

Thanks for returning such an important part of the hobby to a place of prominence and respect. Had you not done so well, there would be nary a whimper at their passing. Here's hoping that 30 years from now some old greybeards are reminiscing about Issue 1 of Pathfinder.

For what little it can do, I know at least one person who'll miss you all the way from Italy. It's me.

Whatever they do, it'll never be what YOU did, people. Be proud, you're walking out of this battlefield, but trust me that your standard is still high and proud. And you can always hear our cheers for you.

Like others, I would like to express my unending gratitude to all who were involved in making Dragon and Dungeon staples of D&D. I wish you well on all your endeavors, and while unlikely, if any among you make it to Iowa City, Iowa, look me up so I can buy you a drink! :)

Not to sound like a broken record, but I want to thank you as well. Paizo did an awesome job with both Dragon and Dungeon. Well done.
