Fast Firing a Sling?

I agree with your final conclusions bronte but I think it's important to now make a distinction in rapid reload.
rapid reload (sling) or rapid reload (crossbow) seeing as a feat for one shouldn't help the other IMO

I've never heard of a warsling, where's that from?

warsling PrC was for halflings.

i would guess the warsling weapon is in the Arms & Equipment book

Of course, especialy because you need to take rapid reload with a particular crossbow (It doesn't apply to both).

As a quick aside. Could someone give me the run down ont he halfling warsling.

Not trying to take over the thread, but didn't think this deserved its own. I thought it was in the FRCS, but i guess not.

It's not a complete aside, either. It's an exotic weapon that does ... well, I'm not going to give it's stats here/now simple because I don't have them, and I'd goof up from memory. However, it's an exotic weapon that's specifically NOT an actual sling, and therefore doesn't suffer what the rest of the slings suffered in the 3.0 to 3.5 conversion... ie it's loaded at the rate of a bow. It also does more damage than a normal sling, and it can be used to fire off "skiprocks", which is another exotic weapon, and if you have that feat you can hit a second target within five feat of the first.

I'll see if I can find the stats and post 'em here for you when I get home.

Yikes, just saw that. Well, I'd houserule Rapid Reload would do the trick, but I've never heard of a feat that did it for a sling.

I doubt you can. A sling is designed to use the force of spinning your ammunition before releasing it.

You're better off using a slingshot or a pellet bow.

Yea, it makes sense... however mechanically there's no real reason to penalize the weapon this way..

As for a slingshot or a pellet bow. That's fine, but I've yet to see any stats for those items.

Personally I'm fond of the "hammered arrow"... an arrow with a blunted tip/end. However some people want slings. And for them I recommend the halfling warsling.

That seems a little silly - arrows have so little momentum, a blunt one would simply bounce off (more often) rather than sticking in someone and doing them any harm.

Skiprock: Halfling weaponsmiths developed these polished stones. Each skiprock is perfectly weighted and shaped for throwing. If the skiprock hits its target, it ricochets toward another target of the thrower's choice. The second target must be adjacent to the original target (no more than 5 feet away). The thrower immediately makes a second attack roll for the skiprock against the new target, with an attack bonus 2 lower than that of the initial attack.

Although they are thrown weapons, skiprocks are treated as ammunition for the purposes of drawing them, crafting masterwork or otherwise special versions of them, and what happens to them after they are thrown.

Skiprocks can be used as sling bullets, but using a skiprock's ricochet ability in conjunction with a sling requires taking the Exotic Weapon Proficiency (war sling) feat.

War Sling: This exotic weapon is a heavy sling used with a special sidearm throw to hurl a skiprock (see above) with deadly power. Without skiprock ammunition, a war sling is treated as a normal sling and deals the appropriate damage when used to throw normal sling bullets in stones.

A user proficient with both the skiprock and the war sling can ricochet a sling thrown skiprock just like a hand-thrown skiprock.
