Although silver dragons have been my favorite since... well, forever, this has to be my favorite piece of artwork.

The little guy running away from this Big Red always cracks me up XD

I've always taken that picture as a backhanded slap at PCs painting them as babykillers since the only dragons they can reliably beat are hatchlings.

Funny, I recall this very point being brought up to TSR... maybe in a letter in Dragon? Anyhow, the answer was, "Wait until you see the stat for dragons in 2e and you'll understand just why it is that they only took on a wee one..."

I've always enjoyed this image:

My favorites are Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley,Tony Diterlizzi, Wayne Reynolds, Jeremy Jarvis, and William O'Connor just to name a few. Wayne Reynolds in particular lately. His Pathfinder work is astounding.

It's kind of silly, but the absolute most evocative image in all of D&D for me is this one:

Of all the pics I've run across, this is the one that strikes the most revulsion and fear into my heart when I see it. *shiver* This sick and twisted image is the one that hooked me into D&D way back when.
I agree: that mustache is horrifying!

So stuff and unnatural, bereft of life as it simply clings to his upper lip. No aficionado of facial hair can stand the sight of such a sad mustache.
