The Deck of Many Things

Guaranteed to dent your campaign - if not break it. I have not used it for nearly 25 years as a result.

But still - undeniably fun! ;) I picked up Green Ronin's new deck accessory the other day at my FLGS. I'm thinking the Library of Last Resort needs one of these tucked away somewhere...

My favorite would be anything with extra dimensional space...bag of holding...haversack...portable hold...etc.

Decatur of endless water is another good one.

Stormbringer or Mournblade would be my artifact choices.

the Sphere of Annihiliation...I've encountered them several times. Most notably in TOH. I've never seen much point to them. On a silly note in one campaign we ruled that the sphere didn't annihilate, but instead transported the person to the other side of the multiverse....the other side of the Far Realm or whatever...so yeah, you aren't dead, but you aren't in Kansas any more.

I always like to break out a Deck of Many Things every so often. Player are always too eager to see if they can get some of the beneficial rewards.

I'm just one of those idiots that has to play with it. I had a mongrelman (psi/thief in 2nd ed) that was genderless. Not only did he get a gender because of that deck (female), she got an 18 chr with a keep.

We were playing a planescape game....what was I going to do with some keep on some random prime? Needless to say role playing the first month as a female with the march of the crimson army was fun....the b1tchiness for one entire gaming session...the character's secretive ways the next gaming session.

The funny bit is the players knowing the character was a thief, thought the character was up to something...when she really just wanted to be left alone....it's private.

Wand of Wonder. Hands down my all time favorite magic item.
I think they are a love'em or hate'em type of item.....I hate them.

Wand of Wonder and Deck of Many Things for the tie.

There was a running gag in my original group over the Wand of Wonder:

"Stand back!! Or I'll use it!!!" the player would shout at the bad guys and wave it threateningly. We'd all laugh.

As with all cliches...there was an element of truth in that.
