Feats and spell and stuff

Noliar

First Post
Hi! this is my first post to this forum though I've been lurking on Story Hour for a while. I posted these on the Webrpg D&D3E forum and I got some good changes suggested but I'm posting them in the original form to see if they get taken in different directions by you lot.

Feats:

Twist the knife (general, fighter)
prerequisites: sneak attack bonus, BAB 5+
You know when you've struck a good blow and can take an extra moment to really make it tell.
Special: If the character rolls a confirmed crit with a melee sneak attack then before damage is rolled she can choose to forgo all subsequent actions in the round and have the attack count as a coup de grace attempt.
Normal: A coup de grace attempt is a full round action that reqires a helpless target.

Thrust kick (general, fighter)
Prerequisites: Improved unarmed strike, STR 13+, BAB 3+
Your powerful kicks can knock opponents back
Special: The character can make an unarmed attack at -2 to hit. If it hits it only does subdual damage but the character also makes an opposed check to drive the opponent back as per the bull rush manouvre except that the character does not follow the opponent.
Normal: you hit 'em or you push 'em

Spell:

True Copy (sor/wiz 1 cleric 1 craft 1)
divination
range: touch
duration: special
components: VSMF
casting time: 1 round
save: will automatic (harmless)
sr: no
The target of this spell gains a +20 insight bonus on all craft checks to make an exact copy of a single item. This spell works with Minor Creation, Fabricate, Polymorph any Object and the like.
The focus is the item to be copied, the material component is four rods or sticks fixed together in a flexible parallelogram.

Stuff:

The Butcher's Knife
This +2 knife (treat as guardless dagger) always does maximum damage in a coup de grace and on a successful coup de grace or when stuck into an unmoving carcase(sp?) (including helpless undead!) will instantly cut up, dissect, butcher, skin, gut or otherwise mutilate the body to the wielder's specification - a great time saver for hunters etc.

carcase(sp?)
Carcase is the British variant spelling of carcass so you did technically spell the word correctly. I like to use http://www.m-w.com to check my spelling on words I am not sure of when I post.

Thrust kick
This looks ok but I have a few questions. Do you want use of this feat to be a standard action or a substitute for a melee attack (unarmed strike)? Do you want this feat to provoke an AoO? Here is my rewrite.

Thrust Kick (general, fighter)
Prerequisites: Improved unarmed strike, STR 13+, BAB 3+
Benefit: When making an unarmed strike the character can subtract 2 from its melee attack roll and if the attack hits the attack deals only subdual damage and the target is affected as if Bull Rushed (provokes AoO) except the character does not move with the target (and remains in its orginal space after the Bull Rush) and the target can not be pushed back more than 5ft.
Normal: See the normal Bull Rush rules.
Special: A fighter may select Thrust Kick as one of his fighter bonus feats.

True Copy
This spell looks ok to me but what is it's duration? I would suggest 24 hours or 1 day/level unless you just want it to be the next craft check.

The Butcher's Knife
Looks good as long as the price is not to low.

Twist the knife
This feat looks very powerful to me. This is how I would rewrite it.

Twist the Knife (general)
prerequisites: Combat Expertise, Improved Critical, Sneak attack +4d6, BAB 10+
Benefit: If the character rolls a confirmed critical hit on an attack (with a weapon for which the character has the Improved Critical feat) against a target denied its Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), she can choose to have the attack count as a Coup de Grace attempt (provokes AoO; target Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die), but the character's damage is not multiplied because of the critical hit and she does not deal sneak attack damage.
Normal: A coup de grace attempt is a full round action that reqires a helpless target.

Twist the knife is waaaaay too powerful imho. I wouldn't ever allow a feat that lets you make a coup de grace on a non-helpless opponent, else everyone will be using it with a falchion with improved crit- when you threat on a 15+, you crit a lot.

What if it was:

Twist the Knife (general)
prerequisites: Combat Expertise, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus, Improved Critical, Sneak attack +4d6, BAB 10+
Benefit: If the character rolls a natural 20 on an attack (with a finessable weapon for which the character has the Weapon Focus and Improved Critical feats) and confirms the critical hit against a target denied its Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), she can choose to have the attack count as a Coup de Grace attempt (provokes AoO; target Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die), but the character's damage is not multiplied because of the critical hit and she does not deal sneak attack damage.
Normal: A coup de grace attempt is a full round action that reqires a helpless target.
