Feats for a Sword and Board build

Hey there!

I'm building a Human Knight for a 3.5 Campaign and I was wondering what feats (other than the mounted combat ones) would be better for this character. I intend to play a sword and board guy (longsword plus heavy shield) Any suggestions? I was thinking abbout cleave (and power attack)

Shield Specialization (PHB2) -> Improved Shield Bash -> Agile Shield Fighter (PHB2). You can now make a full round attack plus a shield bash for only -2 on each attack. Instead of the normal penalties for not having TWF.

Shieldward (PHB2) gives shield AC to Touch AC and vs. various special attacks. (trip, overrun, etc.)

And Shield Slam (Complete Warrior).

If fact, Complete Warrior and PHBII offer all the interesting shield feats.

I like this! 3 feats to get TWF, but I keep my shield bonus and don't need 15 DEX! I will rock on horseback AND on foot!

Mind you, Improved Shield Bash has no requirements, and that is needed to perform a shield bash and still retain the shield bonus to AC.

If you're going with all those shield feats, then you might also want to consider feats like Dodge, Mobility, and eventually the tactical feat Elusive Target (CW). Coupled with your shield feats, they'll make a great defensive combination. Then there's the feat Melee Evasion (PHB II) with Combat Expertise and you can create a tough not-easy-to-hit character.

No point suggesting more feats than he'll get! He's a Knight, not a Fighter, heh.

So: Take Improved Shield Bash and Mounted Combat early on, follow at some point with Shield Specialization, Agile Shield Fighter, and Shield Ward. And Shield Slam. Ride-By Attack, Spirited Charge, Power Attack, and Improved Critical are all things you'll probably want as well.

Hrm. Human Knight could go... L-1, ISB, PA. L-2, MC. L-3 RBA. L-5 SC. L-6 SSpec. L-9 ASF. L-10 Iron Will. L-12 SSlam. L-15 IC, Trample. L-18, SW.

Yeah, a slow gain with the Knight's few bonus feats and very limited selection for them.

YEa Lot of feats, But why are you going for Iron will? Knights have A Good will save.

Personaly I'd go for shiled feats first. picking up the Mounted combat feats with the Knight bonus feats.

so 1-PA, Shiled spec., l3 Shield bash, L6 Agile shiled fighter,9 Shiled ward etc.

.....Because Knights have an extremely limited and mostly sucky set of feats to choose from for their class Bonus Feats. They don't get the Fighter's selection of Bonus Feat choices. Iron Will is one of the handful of feats on the Knight's list.

Ride-By Attack and Spirited Charge are among the few worthwhile feats on their list, and my suggestion already involved picking those up earlier. Leaving only Iron Will and Trample as halfway-useful feat choices for the 10th and 15th level Knight bonus feats, given the Knight's cruddy list to choose from.
