Final Figures for the 04-05 TV season

I chave choosen wisely this season. The only 2 network shows I watch are doing pretty good in the rating, Lost and House.

I was pretty surprised and how low Scrubs was on the list. It's the best sitcom (and one of the best shows) I've seen in years.

I find it surprising and a little unbelievable that Everybody Loves Raymond did better than Lost.

Not a surprise. There are lower barriers for entry into "Raymond" than "Lost", because:

--Smaller cast with easily identifiable archetypes.
--No episodic hooks to confuse 1st time viewers
--Very identifiable family situations for most viewers
--Comedy versus drama with some comedy
--Established fanbase from 9 years of viewing.

In other words, good, solid "popcorn" television.

I'm really happy with House's performance. Best new drama this year to me. However, I'm very disappointed with Las Vegas and West Wing's numbers. I found Las Vegas to be really entertaining and I thought West Wing experienced a large increase in quality this year after a lackluster season last year.

American Dad ranked higher than Family guy?? I guess it was that Superbowl Special that threw off the average.

24 had a pretty big jump in numbers this year as well, that's good.

And...le sigh. When will America's love affair with Idol finally end? WHEN??? Add CSI and Survivor to that list.

Also color me surprised that Without a Trace and 2 1/2 Men ranked as well as they did. I suspect that those are mostly due to big lead-in shows, but I can't remember which.

Yeah I have a confession to make.

I don't watch Lost.

I know, I know. Well I watched the first couple of episodes, it seemed pretty good, but with my work schedule I missed a bunch of episodes and just fell out of it. When I came back to it it just didn't have a big draw for me.

Alsom, it was its last year. Lots of times it seems long running shows ghave a viewer increase in their last year as people make more of a point to try to watch it.

Well, Veronica Mars just got cancelled for next year...

Veronica Mars has been renewed for a second season according to everything I've read and seen. Where did you hear it's been cancelled?

[EDIT] In fact, it's being re-aired on UPN over the summer, starting mid-June, presumably so it can reach audiences that missed it the first time around. There's also a DVD set being rushed out to stores before the second season starts. Sadly, that means they had no time to do any extras on it.

Most baffling is Monday Night Football. It's still Ranked #12, yet ABC will be moving it ESPN after next year. I can still watch it there, but they're ruining the tradition!!

Frankly, I lost track of it at some point and never bothered looking for it.
