Finger Cut Off - How to get back ?

Istar

First Post
Okay guys how does this work in 4e.

My Rogue has had the unfortunate event of his left ring finger being cut off.

Dont know why they always blame the rogue all the time for every little mishap that occurs around the place.

So in ye old 2e there was regeneration, but how does it work in 4e, cant really see much too bring it back. p.s. I do have the afore mentioned article but it is a little burnt.

Plus do you think it would affect Two Fisted Shooter with my hand xbow being used with one less finger.

In practical terms, if you're shooting a crossbow with one hand - the ring finger is the one you hold the entire weight on. As a GM, I'd allow no penalty if you'd get a custom crossbow with pistol trigger (normally it's a lever, and you need two (index and middle) fingers to operate smoothly), though it'd either have a default -1 to it's normal to-hit, or be considered exotic weapon (helluva resistance on the trigger).

Until you find a way to re-attach it, I reccomend getting Gentle Repose cast on it.

Don't sweat - at least it's not the thumb!

This is entirely up to DM's discretion.

The answer could be as simple as saying you're fully healed after a short/extended rest (not my recommended way to deal with it).

As a DM, I would likely provide some sort of detriment to the player until which time a side quest is completed to find someone capable of performing the custom regeneration ritual and convincing them to take the time to help your rogue.

As for detriment, I'd go with a -2 to attacks with certain weapons, this detriment can be negated by spending a minor action to further focus on the attack itself. Something like this proves inconvenient to the player, but should not cripple them when it comes down to combat.

DUDE.

You're missing a finger, and you're a rogue. That's awesome!

Don't try to undo it, OWN it!

'You know why they call him Frankie Four-Fingers?'

Not undoing it, but I wouldnt mind getting it back at some stage.

But it could actually be rather useful having one less finger, as I have also been rather badly disfigured as well, so it will come in handy proving to certain individuals, my identity.

Well, I have now changed my name from "Istar" to "Istar the Black".

Plus it is a rather ironic twist of fate and some could say poetic justice :(

As when the warforged died, I did cut off one of his fingers and keep it as I said I would ressurect him at some latter stage.

Of course I did use that particular digit as an arse scratcher from time to time so now maybe it has a more permanent use, possibly I could attach it using some magic from the Warforged item lists.

I guess I have to roll a D10 to see if its the same finger.

Oh man, now that would be cool :) Frankie Metalfinger. Jimmie the Ironclaw.

Of course that's something to be settled with the DM, but it's one of those perfect opportunities for DM to say "yes". Heck, I'd allow giving it some enhancements, like a hidden lockpick :)
And if worse comes, and DM decides that the finger doesn't match - all you need to do is find some other warforged ;-) Or just enjoy all the opportunities of having 3 middle fingers ;-)

Okay I wil go with 3, it was actually 2 that I was looking for, going from left 2 right, but close.

Oh well, that is 3 index fingers isnt it.
