Has anyone ever been a GenCon Volunteer? What is involved, and is it worth it?

I've never done it at Gen Con, but I have done it at some of our local cons. Usually it involves a shift or two of very thought absent work. On year at a local con I stapled papers together for 6 hours straight. Other times I've been a goofer or helper to various things and people.

The poker game sounds great! Is each die's value based on the numbers of sides, how cool it looks, or are they all equal in value when wagering?
Hopefully the dice would just be the prize pool and we'd actually be using chips. :)

I'd also like to see a percentage payout, rather than winner take all. :) Of course, I'm always up for a chop too. ;)

I think you end up working a lot more at Gencon...I've done it, and it doesn't turn out to be that fun. :)

I dunno, it sounds rather kitchy to have the dice act as both wagering chips and the prize. In any event, a percentage payout would be less painful to be sure...but nearly as exciting.

Maybe I'll see you at the table :).

I'm going to Gen Con. I'm also running a Forgotten Realms game called "The Heart of Ammarindar." This will be my third year going to Gen Con & I'm really looking forward to it. If you're interested, sign up for my event.

I'll be there this year. I don't plan to play in many events though. I'm probably going to try to get involved in mostly pickup games, and going to seminars until I get a few years of Gencon experience under my belt. This will be the first convention I've ever been to, and I'm more than a little anxious.
