Forgotten Realms Player Guide

D&D (2024) Forgotten Realms Player Guide

Yeah the FRAG I think is mostly DM advise outside of the 5 regional guides that I suspect will include secret stuff DMs might now want their none DM players knowing about, while the Setting Overview that updates the lore of FR to the current in setting time line will be more the kind of publicly available info on various regions, events, Gods, etc..., that a reasonably educated individual could expect to be well informed on.
Plus a lot of Monsters, most likely, based on the history of 5E Setting books.

Phaerim plz!!!

And I guess "chosen of Mystra" can be a new creature type, since there seems to be more and more of them, just like goblins, in a setting where gods were recently forbidden to have chosen or interact directly with Toril after the last RSE, no? (Looking at you, BG3...)
More than a few NPC stat blocks (Red Wizards, Zhentarim, named characters, etc.).

I think it's noteworthy that we haven't seen a Book of Vile Darkness equivalent in the 5E era. I don't think "and my character is a tumor-ridden cancer mage whose best friend has sex with the undead" is really what they want their brand to be associated with nowadays.

Which, honestly, is fine. Mork Borg is way better at that sort of thing than 3E ever was. The Book of Vile Darkness is kind of cringeworthy, rather than representative of evil. (I'd argue the 2E Complete Book of Necromancers was far better in that regard, in part because it was so much more nuanced.)
Yeah, the Book of Vile Darkness was firmly wedged in a 13 year old boy’s idea of what’s vile and dark. My group dubbed it “The Book of Tiddies and Gore”.

What monsters do you think will be in it?
Can't say I rightly know, but I know there are Faerûn specific beasties that haven't made it in over the past decade: the Phaerimm seem likely, it I know there are others. I never read through the 3E Monster book, and I'm not familiar with all the 2E stuff...bit I know it is out there. And it is a good opportunity for hyper-specific NPCs, or oddball things thst can be used across worlds.

Looking at the list from the 3e supplement, Monsters of Faerun, I'd expect to see (with the caveat that if I've mentioned some already in the monster manual they likely won't be in it): Fey'ri, Tannaruk, the yochlol demon, driders, maybe a couple different dragons (deep and song), nishruu, phaerimm, and sharn. Maybe also a couple of different liches (baelnorn, archlich).

Side note, I remember really liking the monsters of faerun book, had some great art in it.

Yochlol were in the 2014 MM so I expect they’ll still be in the 2024 version.
