Forgotton realms pantheons

The faerûnian pantheon is not limited to any one race (it is not really the "human" pantheon). You would have a really hard time explaining that character worshipping, say, Aerdrie (an elven goddess).

I suggest to "convert" to Silvanus - it's the closest fit you will find, and the FRCS also suggests that worshippers of Obad-Hai that are converted from general D&D characters to FR characters take up the Oak Father as their patron. Just lose the fire domain and take your pick from plant, protection, renewal or water.

There are only three deities with the Fire domain: Gond (The Wonderbringer, god of craft and artifice), Kossuth (the elemental Lord of Fire) and Talos (The Destroyer)

If you're dwarf is a blacksmith or metalworker, I'd go with Gond. Talos is evil, if your DM is running a campaign with evil PCs he would be a better choice IMHO. Just my two coppers..

Cracking open Faiths and Pantheons, it looks like there are no dwarven gods that grant access to the Fire domain at all.

Gond, Kossuth, and Talos are the only non-race speciffic deities that do have access to it.

Of the three, Gond seems pretty in-line with the whole dwarven crafts thing. Go with Gond, my son. :p

Or you could just worship a concept or philosophy that's sort of a dwarven gondquivalent and do it that way.

Blacksmith? Metalworker? Hardly. It's a priest of obad-hai with the animal domain. That doesn't exactly shout out "blacksmith" to me. :p

These three are the only deities with the fire domain period. Look up the fire domain entry in the spell section of the FRCS. It lists all deities that have that domain. The three we mentioned are the only gods that have the domain.

His character doesn't seem in line with the whole dwarven crafts thing. He worshipped obad-hai and had the animals domain...

Not in the Realms. No divine patron, no divine magic.

... *blink* Ya know, I knew I was doing something wrong when I was going through F&P scanning deity entries for domains. I totally blanked on the compiled list in the FRCS. Yay brainfart.

Wait a sec, Animal and Fire domains? He was a Priest of the Holy Barbeque? Heh, I'll have to remember that one.

Mm, valid point. I keep forgetting that.

Animals usealy fear/respect fire. I thought the Idea of someone worshiping these two seperete yet related aspects was a neat idea. I also really liked the idea of a short little dwarf who smelled like smoke, smoked a pipe as part of his nightly fire prayer and also hung out in the woods and talked with anamals because they made more sence then humans. (Though I do like the priest of the holy BBQ that made me laugh.) I was going to have him be a guide as a profesion so now I'm thinking of having him worship the fwarven god of travel Marthammor Duin. But that would involve changing his domains completly and also his prayer ritual etc. Any other ideas would be great.

I am also interested in the idea of having him searching for a god, can you do that as a first level claric, search for a god to proove himself to you?

If you can't contact your DM before the game about this, prepare two characters. One with animal/fire that worships Silvanus and another that fits your next favorite idea.

Make a polite case to your DM that you had a Greyhawk cleric with these two domains that you really liked, and would it just be possible for Silvanus to grant the fire domain? Silvanus already has animal/plant, and adding fire would go well with his water domain. Also point out that fire is often integral to renewal in nature (another of Silvanus' domains) and that no mainstream nature-related deity in the realms offers this important elemental domain.

If I were the DM, I'd let you take it since it sounds like this is what would make you most happy, and it's only a very minor change to the pantheon. However, as I'm not your DM, take along option #2 just in case.

Good luck.

It makes kind of sense. Boths are things found in nature, and boths feature prominently on the druid spell list. So a nature deity would have things like that

No divine spells without a patron deity period. You might be able to be cleric, but you would be without your spells, and without turning undead.

I agree. It fits the nature theme. Shouldn't make it too powerful - Obad-Hai has the same domains.
