Forked Thread: Scotley's Tomb of Horrors 3.5 Continued

Grackle gets tired of trying to make the Admiral go get the shiny hat, so he crawls down there with the magic of his Cloak to grab the shiny hat (crown) himself, then crawls back out and tries it on. "Yes! Shiny hat! I looks all sophistimicated nows!"

The dirty gnome starts posing in his new shiny hat, with his new shiny stick, while the Admiral just scowls and mutters. But even he can't keep from glancing at the shiny-shiny now and then. Neither seems to be paying attention to the much more important discussion and examination going on in the rest of the room.

[sblock=Grackle and Admiral only]
GOLDEN CROWN
This gold crown contains several enhancements, though most of them are keyed to room where it is found.
Description: This gold crown is a small replica that is inlaid in silver.
Activation: Anyone who wears the crown learns of its powers.
Effect: If worn, the wearer is immediately telepathically visited with the information that the crown cannot be removed unless the scepter is
touched to it—it is important to use only the proper end of the scepter, but Grackle is not given the information about which is the proper end only that something dire will happen if the wrong end is touched to the crown. The wearer can also immediately see within the throne room as if in normal daylight. Also, the wearer is immune to the levitation effect of the pillars.
However, the crown cannot leave the chamber. If teleported out, it immediately returns with its wearer (if still worn). The wearer cannot physically walk out of the chamber and must remove the crown to do so.
Aura/Caster Level: Overwhelming transmutation
[evil]. CL 20th.
Construction: Requires Create Wondrous Item, darkvision, bestow curse, teleport, 1,250 gp, 100 XP, 3 days.
Weight: 1/2 lb.
Price: 2,500 gp.

Have fun with it!

Grackle "Grubeater" Granitetop

Grackle suddenly stops, frowning. The weasel also halts and looks up at Grackle's head in what you assume must be a worried fashion, though it's hard to read the mustelid's expression.

"Ummm......shiny hat not so nice......" Grackle loudly pronounces, to get everyone's attention.

"I think......shiny hat will hurt Grackle if he takes it off wrong. And shiny hat won't let me take it nowheres!!! What good is a shiny hat Grackle can't take home?!?! Stupid magic hat! Who makes stupid magic hats!?!?! Nobody wants stupid magic hats! Peoples want nice magic hat!!! All this shiny hat does is bad things to Grackle!!!" the gnome whines/rants.......

".......Oh, and makes big room look brighter. And make Grackle not float on pillars. But that stupid! Can't float on pillars already! Stupid hat not make sense!!" Grackle mutters in annoyance. More loudly, the gnome announces in a pleading tone "Umm.....if Grackle's head 'splodes or something, please put it back together and make Grackle better again, okay?"

He struggles to pull the shiny hat off his head, but fails. Then he consults the Admiral for a moment, who isn't any help. But the weasel does suggest that since the crown is mostly made of gold, it might be best to try the golden end of the scepter on it. So Grackle tries touching the golden end of the scepter to the crown, before trying again to pull the crown off........ No one ever accused Grackle of being a wise or patient gnome.

Confused for a while as to what to do, Jillian finally decides on a course of action. So she heads to the north and searches the three opened rooms, being careful not to touch anything. First she searches the western one. Then the eastern one. And then finally the middle one. And finally she checks the door on the other side of the middle one.

OOC: Taking 20 on search for 34.

OOC:
Ballista pulls a length of string from a pouch and then flits down the insde wall where the thrown dropped down. Without moving or even touching the crown if she can manage it, she ties a double loop around one of its protuberances of the real "Shiny hat" before returning to the ground level. She looks around sheepishly and yanks the other end of the string hard enough to clear the crown out of the hole if it isn't held down to the throne by some means, while standing well clear of opening of the new pit.

I think grackls is alrady wearing it

Harrison watches in dismay as he could not stop the gnome. when he is not immediately turned to dust, he sighs in relief, but is coaugh in mid brath at grackle's announcement that the crown is not good.

" Uh Jillian, Logan, we have had a Grackle problem, I think."

Zorn

"Grackle! What did you do? Don't touch anything else!" he warns.

Then, he watches in horror as Grackle tries touching the crown with the scepter since it is likely to end very very badly.

Thinking quickly, Zorn tries a long shot to help the little guy.

OOC: Attempting a targeted dispel magic on the crown.

Waving his hands and muttering strange, arcane words, Zorn unleashes magical energy towards the crown on Grackle's head.

"Why has everyone has to touch everythin'? Let the pros do the work I'm always sayin'."
Garagos looking at Jillian as he speaks the second sentence.
