I wonder if there will be now more situations where Fringe Division needs to consider the use of Amber... And if they will always find a way around it.

i think that might be overkill of the emotional/ethical implications... they did it once to show the gravity of the situation and explore the characters reactions to it... doing it again -might- be a bit too much.
though i wouldn't be surprised if ...

we see it used on "the device" as a way to stop it from doing bad things

I thought one of the more intriguing scenes was Walter confiding in Nina his doubts about Walternate's motives. Although the relationship between universes is on a war footing right now, it's been mentioned that the device can be used to create or destroy. Maybe there will come a point when the two sides actually talk and try to resolve their problems in concert.

But aside from that long term, speculative moment, overall I really enjoyed this episode. As I do pretty much every episode of Fringe, I've come to really love this show! :) It's been a long road from the very first ep, and while some have compared this show to the X-Files, I find that the pace of the story is much more satisfying. Actually having things happen - as opposed to endless, unresolved "teasing" - makes for great television, at least for me.

The last couple of episodes have really shown some interesting contrasts between Walter and Walternate. One pretty stunning thing that was made clear last time was that Walternate was unwilling to test Cortexiphan on children despite the fact that their whole world might be destroyed if they didn't, yet Walter (and Bell) used it on children without any real stakes.

That Walter is considering Walternate's morality is intriguing indeed, especially in that light.

Having your child stolen from you has to give you a different perspective on such things.

Can someone spoiler what happened in the last 5 min? My hulu viewing cut out right there and I don't have the time to re-watch the whole episode right now, even though it was a great episode.
I also did like the way that Walternate wouldn't agree to experiment on kids....and the alternate Brandon is fraking scary!

I'm not sure if it's exactly the last 5 minutes but ...

The old lady's connection to the other-version of her dead husband (and his connection to her) is what was causing the rift. So Olivia and Peter go to convince her that she needs to 'let it go' but she doesn't want to. It gets so bad that everyone (not just olivia and the old lady) can see the other side.
However, the other-version of her dead husband ends up saying "i miss you too and so do the kids" which is a give away to the old lady that it isn't her husband since she and her husband never had kids. Rift immediately closes and all settles.

Meanwhile....

(this may be the last 5 minutes)
They cut to the alternate universe and show Olivia and her boss (forget his name, the guy who got burned and was put in Broyle's place once other-Broyle was killed) were checking the same apartment building preparing it for Amber quarantine. However, they end up having some conversation about how they can't find any traces of a rift at all (making some quip about how Astrid is never wrong so it's really really weird). Other-Olivia then starts knocking on the nearest door (which is 6B since that's where the rift was originating) and the old man answers. She asks if he saw anything unusual and he just says no. She asks if maybe a family member has and if she can ask the others in his apartment and he says that he lives alone ever since his wife died years ago. Other-olivia and her boss sort of shrug off the previous/initial readings as a mistake since they can't confirm it and leave. Then cut back to the old man who is sadly going through an old photo album thinking about his dead wife.

i think that about covers it. the gist of it anyway.

that covered it...thanks!
Sucks that I missed that last bit. It cut out just as 'Liv was trying to get the old women to see that it really wasn't her husband.
