Fun With Metamagic

Consider that spontaneous application of a metamagic feat causes a spell to take a full-round action to cast.

Consider that some spells take longer than that to cast.

Now, logically, if applying metamagic to something is supposed to make it take longer, this interpretation of things is corrupt. But, do the rules say that something with spontaneous metamagic is longer, or do they simply say that the casting of the spell becomes a full-round action? IIRC, it is the latter.

As such, one can spontaneously metamagic a spell to cast it faster, provided that that spell would have taken an entire turn or longer to cast in the first place. Furthermore, the metamagic does not need to be Quicken, or any such speed-related feat. It can be some simple feat that gives a +0 spell level adjustment but doesn't do much for the spell.

I await someone posting with monstrous speed to cite something obvious I have missed.

If the spell’s normal casting time is 1 action, casting a metamagic version is a full-round action for a sorcerer or bard. (This isn’t the same as a 1-round casting time.) For a spell with a longer casting time, it takes an extra full-round action to cast the spell.
Fast enough?

what happens when you quicken a spell that takes 1 minutes to cast usually? nm cant quicken a 1 minutes spell. Is there anyway to get a 1 minutes casting spell down to like a full round or even 5 round cast?

There is a Rapid Spell metamagic feat somewhere. It reduces the casting time of spells with long casting time, but I'm not sure right row how much it shortens it.

Make it an epic spell; you can design it to have whatever casting time you like.

It's in Complete Divine, and changes a spell with a casting time of 1 full round to a standard action. Spells requiring multiples rounds, minutes or hours to cast can instead be cast in 1 round, minute or hour. So a spell can be made rapid and quickened if its original casting time was 1 full round (but takes a slot 5 levels higher).
