OK I was using "psychopath" in the layman's sense. i.e. the person is a rabid dog doing what they do without any reasoning. Clearly you were using the clinical/medical sense. Your points about psychopathy are all well made and I agree.

Basically I think we're in agreement on the whole thing except whether or not Jaime can be redeemed. What can I say, I'd like to see him climb out of the stinking morass that is the Lannisters.

Yes. Perhaps I was unclear because of that. My professional background is a mix of medicine and psychology, and there may be some unintentional overlap between these posts and discussions in an online bioethics course I'm also frequently posting in.

Well Tyrion is pretty awesome. He's my second favourite character, right after Arya.

Just was thinking of the whole trauma/abuse dynamic when I saw this. A pretty powerful conversation with Patrick Stewart talking about the connection between returning home from battle and being involved in domestic violence. It's a complicated and difficult issue.
