Playing different games is certainly an option. I think Chris and I like longer campaigns in the same world and system. But, that is just us. Certainly breaks are welcome and probably necessary too.

I'm good just to have everyone playing together. :) Don't care what we play. :)

Yes, I really do enjoy long running campaigns. I love the stories they create.

Well, I love the stories too. Not saying I don't guys. I'm just saying that it is entirely possible to come back to a campaign after a hiatus and dive back in with the same characters. I mean, I waited years between Star Wars episodes (even if the last three DID suck,) a year between LOTR movies and like seven years between George R.R. Martin books. The stories are still great (except for Star Wars.) I would think it would work the same for RPG stories, if the layoff was only for a couple of months.

This is true, however I have always felt an impetus with certain characters. The only sensible thing to do is stop when the quests or what-not are done then come back when we are ready to continue to the next stage of adventures. It is completely do-able of course.

I was reading the last few comments about revisiting characters after a hiatus. Sure, it works and it's plenty fine and sometimes you just need a break from the "same ol same ol". The interesting thought that popped into my head, was what if I re-envisioned an old character. Say maybe start Xalandra over at 1st level or somesuch. Maybe just a similar character with a new name. It would be an interesting experiment. I never got to play her from level 1 to 11. I'm sure in a different campaign, she'd turn out completely different.
